    How to Keep That Crazy Person You Know From Getting a Gun;

We all know that one person that should never be allowed a gun. He or she is a wrecking ball without one. Answer in short, you can't do a thing. The Second Amendment trumps your worries stating, "ANYONE can get a gun."

^It certainly didn't take Oprah to allow everyone in America to get a gun. It just took a 1791 law to make this possible. And to think progress develops past third world nations on almost every other subject...:eyepopping:

Did you think to yourself, "maybe that one person I know shouldn't be trusted without some educational system on guns" NOPE! You don't need an education, you get a gun NO MATTER WHAT...Some people that focus only on "Liberty" even believe we should allow Children to open carry RPG's in malls, because Liberty is all that matters.

Why did the term "Regulation" get turned into it's secondary definition and why don't people see 3rd world Countries and even 2nd as our former selves. We have been through this....:machinegun:

To answer your dumb question: If there is a child in your house that shouldn't have a gun---then lock the guns up when you're not using them.

Secondly, if there is a crazy nutbag, like Lanza, Holmes or Mercer around---then lock them up in a mental institution. If a court or mental health worker allows a dangerous mental case (like the 3 above) to roam free after they have misdiagnosed or misjudged them---and they later commit evil acts---then those judges, and mental healthcare workers need to be held criminally liable.

Much better to keep the crazies from getting a gun, by locking them up.

Great answer, "To answer your dumb question: If there is a child in your house that shouldn't have a gun---then lock the guns up when you're not using them."

Smart gun owns do which is where your "duh" statement comes into play. Yet dumb gun owners don't which is when mass shootings come into play.

The "duh" is on your side, not mine.

In fact, many of the gun owners that fixate on Liberty would attack you for posting we should deny Children the Liberty to learn about guns.

The Tornado of stupidity is fun to watch.

That is one major blunder that the Founding Fathers made when they did not specify exclusions regarding the Second Amendment.

I suspect I will have to be "that guy" soon. My father in law is in early stages of dementia. My father in law knows this and has decided to give each grandchild a gun. He had them select which they wanted from oldest to youngest. He happens to have 5 of each. I don't think he can physically handle most of his guns anymore and I don't think he will resist giving up his guns. We'll have the talk with mother in law and sister in law and decide how to address this soon just in case.

In the meantime until you decide what to do, think about sneaking the ammo out of the house.
I had the same problem before my father passed of Alzheimers. I talked him into giving me the two firearms that he owned. A shotgun and a revolver.

He didn't put up a fight about renewing his driver's license. He's 86, has prostate cancer and is very forgetful. He may not even remember that we took his guns if he did protest. Mother in law trusts her kids and is on board with whatever we suggest because she knows he is slipping gears. Sister in law lives 300 yards away and is a nurse. My sons and I do most of their yard work and home maintenance. We're a pretty tight family. That helps.

These tornados of stupidity form when people are left unprotected by fools in gun free zones.

As I've said in the past, guns are only for those physically and mentally able to use them---I wouldn't give a toddler a loaded gun. And if I have a fruitcake like Lanza or Mercer or Holmes in my house, they would have been sent to the mental hospital long ago.

The only option available is to not leave them free in society where they can cause the most potential harm. If they are not confined in some secure facility, it is impossible. You may as well be asking how to keep from contracting the common cold when everyone around you is already infected with it.
