Embarrassment: Fidel Castro Publishes Scathing Letter Slamming The US and Obama.....

And the hits keep on coming.....and more embarrassment for BO peep. He's not having a good week, huh? What say ye?



Well, so much for the "normalized" and new relationship with Cuba.

Less than a week after President Obama visited the communist island and pow-wowed with dictator Raul Castro at a baseball game, Fidel Castro has published a scathing letter slamming the United States and mocking Obama in the regime's state run newspaper. From POLITICO:

Castro ripped into the president and his words during the visit in El Granma, the official state newspaper of the Cuban Communist Party, bringing up Obama's relative youth, the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 and the role of both countries in ending the apartheid in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent in an article titled "El hermano Obama."

Cuba "has no need of gifts" from the United States, Castro concluded. "Our efforts will be legal and peaceful, because it is our commitment to peace and brotherhood of all human beings living on this planet." ....snip~

First, the article's from some yellowish far-right e-rag made to exacerbate the choir. You know what does such sources do to credibility? I sometimes edit stuff at Wikipedia, and let me tell you such sources would have make you laughed out of any article. Be more demanding of yourself. Just saying.

Second, what so offensive in this clip? Now keep in mind that the paper did try to extract what would shock you most - and yet I don't see what's so shocking in there. Such a nationalist discourse would have been applauded by US nationalists if it was uttered by their own leaders - and it was indeed, many times.

And finally - Obama was in Cuba while Brussels happened. Bush, for his part, was struggling to understand "My Pet Goat" while 9-11 happened. Conclusion? As hard it is to believe, no Presidency comes with the superpower or foresight. But yet there is hope; You guys may have much more to win with amicable Cuban relations than with the comprehension of "My Pet Goat".

 

Fidel wrote the article, not Obama.

Link says Politico is the Source reporting on Fidel coming up with the Hit Piece. So attempting to whine and cry about Right Wing sources.....won't work here.

What shocked me again? You must be confused to think I would be shocked that Fidel.....would do some (*)(*)(*)(*) talking with someone that Fidel thinks is weak. I mean if there would be any sort of surprise.....it would be that Fidel actually used pen and paper to put his thoughts down for others to read.

No, he didn't. He said that he was young, and he talked about US medlings in the past, and nothing about the latest meetings, if in terms you guys seem hardly able to stomach these days. He isn't president of Cuba any longer and hasn't been since 2008. He's only a civilian and a geriatric close to death, so Obama had no need to meet him on a diplomatic level.

 

And even the ancient Fidel in his advanced state of decay was able to articulate a direct unambiguous public statement. Our young President must be filed with envy.
