Why do political ideologues seem so dumb?

Here is the fellow I was referring to.

I recommend his writings to everyone who wants to understand how our society became a befuddled mess.

    This is a shame.

You actually made sense for a minute back there.

Not for anything, but both radicals and reactionaries are so extreme in their views that stupidity tends to be the norm.

    IMO

Interesting how your final evasion matches that of cognitive infiltrators perfectly. As a last resort, they nearly always pretend to not understand.

Do you see the constant drumbeats, shilling, and use of intimidation techniques happening on both sides, or just one? I'm curious.

Are you sure the Great Zeus wasn't just having a brain fart? None of his posts actually have any content that would stand up to intelligent scrutiny.

I despise Mitch McConnell's politics, but I rather enjoyed his interview with Charlie Rose this week. His insights into the nuts and bolts of how the Senate works was interesting, particularly how he felt that a highly divided legislature can get more done than when there was a dominant party. Part of it is because in a divided legislature, there are more people maneuvering politically even within their own party, and part of it has to do with the Senate rules. Apparently except when Harry Reid was majority leader, any Senator could write and move his own legislation to a vote by building support among the various factions of the Senate. When Reid was majority leader, he would only let those things he supported that he knew would pass or those things he opposed that he knew would lose get to a vote. He said that now a lot of legislation is being moved successfully through the Senate that amount to single spending items, but the press doesn't report on them because they are not big high-stakes omnibus spending deals.

A large majority on just one side.

    How about you?

It depends on the day. Some days, there seems to be a plethora of Hillary hate and other days, a surplus of #neverTrump. That doesn't bother me as long as the debate and discussion is a clear back and forth of ideas. Almost every day though, I see some posters telling other posters that they are out of their element, that they have reading deficiencies, and that facts have been debunked, when it is not possible to "debunk" a fact. They don't debate the idea or the fact, they insult to discredit rather than counter.

I think the most interesting thing I have noticed is that there are ideologues here that think if you disagree with a single point they've made, that makes you a fanatical member of the opposition. There's also a good bit of generalizing about what "cons" do or what "libs" do, usually made from the opposite voice, as if they know just how the other side thinks and reasons.

I also find some great wits and some clever trolls on this site.

I also believe that a well-written sentence is a beauty to behold. This is a bit off topic, but sometimes when I'm reading a book by John Updike, tears almost come to my eyes when I encounter one of his well-crafted sentences. I also have the prejudice that people who are not able to express themselves properly may not have their ideas properly organized. If you can only express a thought by using mushy sentences, perhaps the thought itself is mushy.

Now, there's an example of someone who cannot express himself in written language. Assuming that the poster grew up in the USA, he is a sad example of what is wrong with American education. Can anybody really understand what the poster is trying to say?

Hahahaha, LOL! Pretending to not be able to understand IN A GROUP is a common tactic of cognitive infiltration. If what you post is true, then this is far, far beyond you.

You keep repeating that line. Another new poster says the same thing. Do you have anything worthwhile to say or do you just want to be the forum arrogant grammarian? I think the forum survived before you arrived, and it will continue after you depart probably close to election time.
