Talking about such a war is stupid beyond belief and the only way the United States would attack Russia is if Russia attacked NATO....or if...and this is unlikely in the extreme....if some crazy Russian leader ordered a Nuclear Attack upon the United States or it's allies.

And YOU had better HOPE this never happens!!

If Russia were to attempt to invade a full member of NATO country both NATO and the United States would EASILY and very UNFORTUNATELY wipe out any Russian Invading Force as time and time again it has been proven that Russian Training and Russian Military Weapons Systems are VASTLY INFERIOR to Highly Trained Professional U.S. Military Forces equipped with state of the art U.S. Weapons Systems.

What would happen if such an unfortunate event happened is that the American Military would exact such a devastating counterattack upon the Russian Military that the shear NUMBER of Russian Soldiers killed in action would be so great that the hardliners in Russia would be screaming for a Nuclear Response to avenge the deaths of so many Russians.

If the hardliners won their argument and Russia did carry out a Nuclear Counterattack in a Tactical Manner..ie...targeting ONLY....American and NATO Troop Concentrations and other Military specific targets....this would so enrage the United States that the result would be a Nuclear Counterattack of our own that was also Tactical in it's Nature and U.S. Nuclear Delivery Systems are FAR MORE RELIABLE AND ACCURATE than Russian Nuclear Delivery Systems.

At that point the U.S. Military will have effectively destroyed any ability for Russia to carry out any more Tactical Nuclear Counter-strikes and the Russian Hardliners would again be screaming for revenge and at that point they would be calling for a STRATEGIC NUCLEAR COUNTERATTACK.

Since the U.S. Intelligence Agency known as the NSA has long ago been able to access, record and store all electronic communication occurring on Earth and this means all communication between the Russian Leadership and the Russian Military......the NSA would be AWARE beforehand if and when a Russian Strategic Nuclear Counterattack would occur.

At that point the United States KNOWING a Russian Strategic Nuclear Attack would occur would order both a PREEMPTIVE U.S STRATEGIC AND TACTICAL NUCLEAR COUNTER ATTACK which would effectively wipe out and destroy between 87% to 92% of Russia's entire Nuclear Forces.

This would be carried out by USN. Ohio Class Nuclear Sub's equipped with the most accurate SLBM's on the planet which are the Trident II D-5 MIRVed Nuclear Missiles as well as B-2 Stealth Bombers and F/A-22's carrying Nuclear Bombs.

As well Minuteman ICBM's might be launched if the U.S. knew that Russia intended to target American Cities.

Highly Classified and Secret U.S. Missile Defense Systems such as a new ABM/ASAT and the new Free Electron Laser Systems in the over 100 Megawatt Class would be activated.

My point is.....talking about a WAR between the U.S. and Russia is STUPID!!

If it happens....EVERY ONE DIES.....EVERYWHERE!!

Would love to hear your reverse military analysis of what Russia would do under the same circumstances and using some of their advanced equipment that is just as fabulous and just as untested. I doubt it would be sit there on their hands like a dumb a$$..... But then again I agree with your conclusion its pointless to talk about, it wont be conventional.

NOTHING that is electronically transmitted in any way no matter how supposedly secure, encrypted or even if it exists upon a secure hard-line escapes NSA detection and storage.
