All the recent attacks in the UK, France, Belgium, Spain and Germany and so on make me wonder when this madness reaches my home italy. I know those islamists target us and that they see Roma as their ultimate goal but so far no attack was sucessful. But its a strange feeling because people start to get nervous. We have so many worldfamous sites. So many events. I think its only a matter of time and i dont know if and how our security forces can react then.
Italy, like many European countries, has faced terrorism before and survived. Terrorist attacks although well publicized are actually quite rare in western countries and certainly not something you should worry about personally.
You are correct to be worried. Being a major western nation makes Italy a target, and its religious, historical, and artistic contributions to the world will make a tempting target. ISIS, etc are very concerned with symbolism and optics. Does it seem strange to you as an Italian, that your nation is facing the same problems (violent muslims) that it faced during the islamic conquests? I read about a village in your country, where the locals are decendent from mulism raiders, and appear distinctly different from the neighboring people-have you head of this place? Google tells me your nation is 2.6 percent muslim, and I have heard that the greatest predictor of muslim attacks is the number of muslims living in a nation.
Italy has the lowest numbers of muslims in western europe in general. But what does that mean? In the end it needs just one maniac to cause so much damage and suffering. Its not that i worry much. Daily life goes on. But you have that idea sometimes.

Nobody knows. Their prime target is Roma. Its the center of western society and culture. The eternal city. But almost evry big or small city in italy is a tourist destination. My hometown Lucca for example has so many famous festivals.
The Swiss are armed and already highly suspicious of muslims. They banned burkas IIRC. The autrians are arming in record numbers and calling for a halt in immigration from muslim nations. No idea what the Czecks are doing. I was surprised to see the last 2 major attacks were in Bavaria.
