I do not think that is what Margot is saying! Teasing is not an excuse ever for mass murder but it can be a factor in pushing an unstable person over the edge.
Last time I was in Arabia, we were celebrating a birthday party and I was smoking a delicious Havana cigar.. I am a tall, slim woman.. One of my dearest friends started to tease me about appearing to be "masculine".. My Saudi translator was just beside himself.. I mean he was upset and distressed.. I had to take him aside and explain to him that my "teaser" was a person I used to babysit for and that he was fond of me.. and that Americans sometimes did that.. and that it was a mark of his affection for me. Since then I have asked other Saudis about teasing.. Evidently its like the Christian admonition not to cause your brother to stumble. In any case, there is a difference between affectionate teasing and cruelty.
