    Hey guys,

I know that most of the media focus for 2016 is on the presidential election. However, what's equally important is the outcome of the Congressional election. Right now, the Republicans are the majority in the House of Representatives while the Democrats are the majority in the senate. Ideally, I'd like to see the Democrats have everything; the House, the Senate, and the presidency. Also, Supreme Court justices are majority conservative by 5 to 4. It's very likely that Anthony Kennedy will retire soon. If it occurs during Clinton's presidency, then the liberals will have a 5-4 majority in the Supreme Court too.

It's somewhat difficult to find news focusing on the Congressional elections. However, I read one article which stated that the hopes of a Democratic House majority has been made likely by Trump's demonizing of the Republican Party. I really don't know what to make of all this. It's hard to predict the outcome. What are your thoughts on it? Do you think that a liberal majority in government is possible at any time within the next 4 years?

Democrats don't deserve to win because they are owned by corporate donors. Bernie was trying to steer away from that, but the party insisted on running a flawed, corporate, war hawk, unlikable candidate. The last time they had a majority (super majority) they couldn't even pass a public option.

    Democrats are a de-funked party.

Your information is outdated. Republicans have controlled both houses since 2014.

I'd much rather the Democrats than the Republicans. Bernie Sanders threw in the towel to avoid becoming another Ralph Nader and right now, Hillary needs all the votes that she can get. Siphoning power away from the Republicans is a step in the right direction but it won't solve all the problems wrong with America today. Maybe in another 4 years, another Bernie will come forth to challenge the existing structure. Hopefully, the Democrats spend the next 4 years putting measures in place to ensure that the American people don't flock to Trump-style supporters en masse like this again.

I just re-checked. You're right. Well, the Democrats need to get into gear and win some Congressional seats.

What,s there to recheck? It is basic common knowledge that thecRepublican took back the Senate in 2012.

**Facepalm** And this folks, is why we can't have good things.

    Dems won seats in 2012.

And lost them in the 2014 mid-terms. It was a very ugly election where Democrats showed their true colors. In North Carolina, they insulated a vote for a Republican was a vote for Michael Brown type incidents to happen, and linked Republicans to lynching. And in New York, Dems pulled a Cruz before Cruz(voter reporting card) and it was disgusting.

I even remember voting Republican back then(when I was in PA). It was my first vote, and I'm sad that I lost that vote since Wolf's been a tool for them. The Dems have damaged themselves big time in 2016. It's only Trump keeping them propped up.

The Supreme Court is split 4-4 liberal/conservative with the death of Scalia.

Or you could say 4-1-3 liberal / swing / conservative if you call Kennedy the swing vote.

I missed the memo about Scalia. Also, I counted Kennedy as conservative.

I'll be voting for the Libertarian or Green candidate in my district this year. Democrats don't deserve my vote. And Republicans, well, they definitely don't. Maybe when Democrats start earning my vote by reaching out to me, instead of corporate interests, we can talk about it. Until then, third party all the way.

I think Marty is on the young side (teenager). Cut him some slack. Remember the state of education these days!

I haven't been a teenager in over half a decade. I'm not American, so it's why I missed the memo some years back. I can't vote in US elections.
