Trump’s big immigration crackdown comes with big 5-year price tag: More than $50 billion

Donald Trump spent about two weeks waffling on his plans for illegal immigration, appearing to lean toward moderation on his "mass deportation" proposal.
Then he spoke Wednesday night. The speech was a stemwinder, promising a complete crackdown, ramped up enforcement across the board and assurance that any illegal immigrant in the United States will be subject to deportation.
All of that comes, of course, with a price tag. A big one.
Trump laid out policy proposals Wednesday night, and for many of them, we can provide at least a rough estimate of the cost using a variety of sources. There are some programs, though, for which we don't have solid details or estimates.
According to the numbers we do have, Trump's plan would add $51.2 billion and $66.9 billion in immigration enforcement costs over the next five years.

That is pretty cheap compared to the immense cost these leeches bring if we do nothing.

 

Today Donald Trump outlined ten specific points which highlight his immigration position:

♦ Three: Zero tolerance for criminal aliens.
♦ Four: Block Funding For Sanctuary Cities
♦ Five: Cancel Unconstitutional Executive Orders & Enforce All Immigration Laws
♦ Six: We Are Going To Suspend The Issuance Of Visas To Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur
♦ Seven: We will ensure that other countries take their people back when we order them deported.
♦ Eight: We will finally complete the biometric entry-exit visa tracking system.
♦ Nine: We will turn off the jobs and benefits magnet [E-Verify].
♦ Ten: We will reform legal immigration to serve the best interests of America and its workers.

Might want to check the world stage before making such an inaccurate assumption, but then again....

 

Jailing them for one... they account for 1/3 the federal prison population....educating their kids....paying their healthcare costs....just to name a few.

 

In reading the article, I noted how it indicates that the government will need to hire new lawyers to enforce the law. But I did not see a clear estimation of the cost of litigation (especially of prolonged litigation). Trials could go on for years especially if the law is found to have been applied on a selective basis due to race or ethnicity. Then there will be other cases such as those who seek political asylum. This could add a few more billion into that cost estimate.

Yes, about a third of federal prisoners, because illegal immigration is a federal offense. Yet illegals make up about 5% of the entire prison population.

Over 160K illegals who had criminal records or committed a criminal offense were deported in 2015.

Do you have any numbers wrt cost and revenue from illegals?

 

Nearly all of that can be accomplished by executive orders.
