He admitted that he isn't going to do anything about illegal immigration. He mentioned that illegal immigrants are "subject to deportation"...not that he'd deport any more than are being deported now. He said "several years down the road" he would "consider appropriate action" against "those who remain". He's not even going to actually THINK about it...until "several years down the road". Too funny...
Yep. Great speech indeed. Passionate, detailed, well-scripted, leaves him lots of room to maneuver as a candidate and president. The base is happy realizing that on his worst day Trump will be infinitely better on illegal immigration than Hillary "open borders" Clinton. And yet it leaves enough ambiguity for more moderate on immigration issue undecided voters to jump on Trump's once again accelerating train. Truly great speech, well done Mr. Trump!
Actually it was none of that but you missed the point. He said he isn't going to do anything different about immigration than we already are and won't even LOOK at how to deal with "those that remain" until several years down the road...
Congress is funding our current levels of engagement in border security and combating illegal immigration. If Donald Trump would like to go above current levels of enforcement of those laws...He will need Congress' participation to tax and fully fund that added level of enforcement. Nothing Donald Trump has proposed on immigration is free. ...or tax free. Every Trump proposal on immigration will require massive funding from a GOP Congress that has made bare bones funding on Border Patrol agents and no new money for immigration courts, Judges, or staff. WitnTrump proposing across the board tax cuts...who exactly is going to fund Trump's immigration war?
