Hillary got 200,000 more votes than Trump.

    Johnson got 4 million votes.

    Stein got 2 million.

Other candidates got a combined total of 1 million.

About 60 million voted for Trump, but about 67.2 million voted against him in some fashion.

He still won, but yes more than half the country despises that clown, including many in his own party.

Yeah, I decided to vote for Johnson this time around. But Trump's president. We live in a Republic, not a Democracy. Plus, if you look at the electoral map by county like 80% of the map is red. We get it. Clinton won the popular vote, thanks to California. But as long as each state is guaranteed at least two electoral votes before counting for population, it's going to be lop-sided.

You do know that most of those red states have a fraction of the population of the blue states, right? I mean, NYC alone has a larger population than 40 states.

Some states have less than a million people, for crying out loud. Those large chunks of red are mostly farmland and unpopulated wilderness.

Those numbers will be lost in the narrative. The GOP will declare a mandate and then steamroll the nation. This is how they roll. When the left wins, we try to convince our opponents to come over to our side or make concessions for them. This never works. The only thing it produces is contempt by our opponents and disgust by our supporters. The DNC was ruined by the Clinton machine, it needs to take a completely different approach if we ever want to win state races and retain our blue state majorities. We can start by looking back. We gave up on labor to embrace free market economics, abandoned Keynes for Friedman. This is the first step in the make over. Get back to defending jobs here without villifying corporations but explain why the interests of personal greed cannot be the collective interests of the nation. Secondly, we need to adopt a pragmatic approach to governing that protects our core values but does so in an open and transparent manner. No more secret trade deals, no more complex laws that no one can understand, keep it simple but effective and then explain it. Lastly, we must defend diversity, freedom, compassion and responsibility. If we start down this path, we can reshape the party.

Yes, but our founders chose a Representative Democracy with an electoral college rather than popular rule. They actually feared a more democratic rule, believing that the majority rule would get out of hand. I'm not saying i agree with that, but until the Constitution is amended differently, it will stay the same.

Heck, in Wyoming, the most red-state in the union, you still can't get cell reception in most places.

I see no disrespect. I see someone who has an idea about how to improve the country, and they would like to discuss it. Don't accuse others of misconduct unduly.

But not in the Blue Wall.
`Those the Democrats have left behind, came forward.
`Those the Democrats no longer see, showed themselves.
`Those the Democrats no longer hear, spoke with a roar!

Too bad they rigged the election for Hillary, Biden could have mopped the floor with Trump but he was too afraid of the Clinton mafia.

I don't like Trump but I accept his win. But I'm glad that people are protesting and letting him know that his shenanigans will not be tolerated.

Yup. No matter who won the election, about half the population would have been disappointed. So what's your point? That the folks who would have been disappointed with a Hillary Clinton presidency are somehow less entitled to having their vote counted? Donald Trump is new to this game, and I find it truly remarkable that despite all the efforts of establishment politicians within both major parties, almost everyone in the mainstream media, all the Hollywood personalities, and a sitting president, despite all the faulty polling being reported, despite everyone saying that Trump had little to no chance of being able to carry any of the swing states or make inroads into the "blue wall", despite massive amounts of money being spent on negative ads against him, despite all of these many factors (and more) being stacked against him, Donald Trump prevails. This is truly unprecedented, and the achievement cannot be overstated.

So you are saying that NOBODY voted FOR Hilary Clinton. It would have been virtually impossible for the DNC and elites to have forced a worst candidate than Clinton down Democrats' throats.

It was an allusion to the era in which people accused those who referred to President Obama as simply "Obama" as being racists.

Trump will face the wrath of the people for the next four years. He will find out that world leaders are not afraid of him nor intimidated by him. He will destroy any goodwill we have internationally and if he actually tries to pass the key points of his agenda, he will bring upon us total chaos. By electing him, we have descended into madness. He will never, ever get my respect. He and the people who voted for him will be responsible for the results, no one else.

What a bizarre delusion and projection the above is. 1. Neither party's hands are clean in the "obstruction" department, face some facts and get your recent political history somewhere else besides the LW union label sewer pipe. 2. You lost due to an erroneous belief system on display in the above that includes utterly discredited (but coincidentally Complex power growing and $$ increasing) twaddle such as Keynesianism that Americans generally do not agree with.

Oh, and at OP, with respect to the dumb "most of the vote was anti-Trump" thread title, most of the electoral college was "anti Clinton."

Guess which one counts and which one doesn't?

Let me ask you, at this point what does it matter. I think we should just get right to selecting some young right wing supreme Court justices. Why put it off!

You will get a chance to practice free market economic policies just as they did in Kansas. The result will be the same. Once we get into a recession, the Fed will have nothing to use, it will end up in fiscal policy. At that point, the right wing will end their idiotic anti-deficit position and give themselves massive tax cuts. The results will be predictable. The bottom line is that Trump would not be President if the people of America had equal power in selecting the POTUS. Estimates today put her lead over Trump at 1 million or more yet his EC lead will increase. This is a travesty. There is no way the majorities who voted for Hillary will turn the other cheek. Expect chaos, you will deserve it.

Similarly, about 67 million voted against Hillary in some fashion. Regardless, the only part of that that counts is the Electoral College. The popular vote is a handy way to look at the election, but doesn't count.

    - - - Updated - - -

If you don't like it, work to get the EC changed.

Obama already destroyed the good will we have internationally by not standing up for what is right in the world.
