My understanding is that genuine Independents abandoned support of the Dem Party in droves over being forced to chose between Hillary and Trump. So they either voted for Trump or for a third party candidate or simply shrugged and stayed home; but on the whole they did NOT vote for the Dem Party's corrupt and lying candidate . . . this time.

I'm still processing it, in a good way!

I was at work trying to conceal a grin. Everyone around me was liberal, so I was struggling to maintain a normal composure.

The majority of my left-wing friends are convinced that the election was won because we all hate women and black people.

    smh...

That's the way I see it, which worries me. All of my friends who stayed home lean left, not right, so all it will take is a decent candidate from the left to completely eviscerate the right.

The first step toward long term victory is vastly reducing immigration, both legal and illegal. We also need to make birth control mandatory for those on welfare.

I watched with amusement. Tried to remember the song about the wicked witch being dead. Mostly- it was amazing to see that after being out-spent, out-gunned and out-manned along with the cooperation of a media who had discarded all it's journalistic values... Hillary, a master manipulator and illusionist- was outsmarted by a businessman, and went down like the proverbial one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. The underdog won by playing the game better than she did. The look of shock on supporters and media faces was satisfying, a sort of just desserts.

I felt that without question- Clinton would have taken us further down a bad road and very likely to the point of no return. Trump, on the other hand, at least would break the stranglehold and open the door to true reform and return to constitutional government. We will have to wait to see if that is true, but I believe it will be.

Most importantly- the nation is poised to correct itself. The real nature of the liberal/progressive movement, long promoting itself as the righteous ones- has been seen not only in the treachery and abuse with which the campaign was conducted, but in the behavior of those nice, kind people who lost fairly, then riot in the streets and carry on like the immature children they are.

They too are Americans- just too long pampered, adult children still of the idea that their parents who built the nation they inherited are stupid, but now they know everything... mostly, that they are entitled to other people's money. There is a vast gap between what they know and what they understand.

Wellllllll . . . what's going to have to happen is that Trump will need to be seen to keep most of his important campaign promises -- or at least be seen to try like hell to keep them -- while he spends time 'respecting' the leftist opposition; or in other words talk TO leftists rather than pull an Obama or a Hillary Clinton in THEIR consistent treatment of the Right when they talked DOWN to people Right of Center. Trump needs two terms to turn this nation around and we will see how well he is doing in two years during the mid term election cycle. If the GOP lose either the House of the Senate at that point then it will be a strong indicator that Trump really is screwing up big time.

I was relieved because Hillary did not win. She is a horrible person that had no business running for president and the whole country knew it, with the exception of some fanatics.

I wasn't entirely surprised. Based on the turnout numbers during the primaries, I felt there was no way Trump could lose a fair election. I'm not saying the Democrats didn't try and tilt the scales, because they did, but Trump won despite that. That is amazing.

yes, let's see... it was around seven in the morning, swedish time, that I saw that trump had 244 of the votes, leading over hillary, and that the remaining states were leaning republican. My first thoughts were: "HELVETE" and "hur i fan??", which translates as 'hell' and 'how the (*)(*)(*)(*)'. following that, i uttered many profanities.

yes, I have ridiculed those protests too, in fact started my on thread on it, but I would not get enjoyment out of people crying over the loss as you state, be it because Obama won or Trump won

i even felt bad for Romney and his supporters when Romney lost, I got no pleasure in seeing him lose... I was glad Obama won, but still felt for the those that had lost

Elation that there will not be another Clinton Presidency, that the criminals Bill and Hillary Clinton will not live in the WH and sully our politics more than they have already. Unlike many others, and like some others who may not even realize the extent, the Clintons' obvious corruption in the 90s and after caused (not correlated, but caused) dire, concrete setbacks in my life at several junctures, without going into detail. So it's really amusing to see all these baby snowflakes crying and acting out everywhere who have exactly 0 skin in the game and have 0 idea of what it's like to suffer real, dire effects in one's life due to political corruption. Yeah, elation and now schadenfreude, coming up on hope for the future.

I am from a rust belt state and felt a sense of relief. Although I've done better than most around here, I noticed awhile back that politics was always about helping the poor but it was always on the backs of the hard working middle class who was giving it their all to make ends meet, too heavy of a load to carry and more people fell into poverty, yet this was ignored. The left always attacked the rich in their rhetoric but they also ignored that the rich were getting richer.

Obviously Trump saw it and obviously people in my state saw and felt it and our state went red for the first time since Reagan. The damage is already done though and it will take awhile to come back.

As I have said to you before, if you would stop listening or reading the media lies, then the election wouldn't have surprised you.

I'll post my thoughts here in tick. But my emotional elation I would liken to this...

They sway elections by projecting what they think turnout SHOULD be to get what they want. It's going to be hard to do this now that their guise is exposed.

My first thought was.... the American brexit. The working people have finally awakened to the scheme of the new robber barons, the globalists. The tide is turning and the globalists will lose eventually. The winds of change are finally beginning to blow.

Then the tune from the wizard of oz appeared as I sang along with the munskens by the yellow brick road, "ding dong the witch is dead, the wicked (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)....."

Currently I would like to have been a fly on the wall when the word came to Mitch McConnell that trump sent word he was gonna drain the swamp and he wanted term limits for people in congress. Can you imagine what rippled through the House and the Senate? LOL As millions of americans would cheer when the news gets to them? LOL Trump could pull a Bernie sanders, once he gets into office, and tell amerca that he is trying to drain the swamp, and wants congress to pass legislation for term limits, like they did for after FDR, and they refuse to do it. SO we need to burn up their emails and phones telling them this is what America wants, and to hell with what they want. This was how sanders was gonna try to get his platform in place. Trump should use this strategy. For it is all that will work with an establishment congress who have created the mess trump supporters want fixed.

My first thought was- "Fantastic! Americans are great again after the shame of voting Obama into office for two terms!", and the following verse from the good book sprung to mind-
God says "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland" (Isaiah 43:18 )

And this pic also sprung to mind as President Trump leads America out of the Obama/Hillary mire to the bright sunlit green fields beyond..:)

I was still counting absentee ballots and Election Day Registration ballots when I concluded that Trump would win. I stated my reasons in another post. But thus is thevReaders Disgust version- As I fed the paper ballots I noticed that the higher in one districts were voting straight Republican. Whatvwas .the fatal wound fir thecDemscwas when I saw a lot of straight Democratic Party voting EXCEPT they selected Trump.

By around supper time I felt that Trump was going to win.

BTW - us ballot counters have to work in pairs of Republican / Democrat or independent / Dem or GOP pairs. The Democratic registered lady with me made a comment about hiw stupid Trump was with hus rigged election bit. Since we observed each other counting it mis nit conceivable that either onevof us could rig the election. Then there were 5 other counting pairs, the Rep and the Dem Registrar of voters and two Assistant Town Clerks.

Yes, I too was bouncing between FOX and CNN as the results came in. Honestly, I was proud of the American electorate for being able to get beyond all of the mainstream media hype and the workings of the mammoth Clinton machine. I don't envy the workload facing Mr. Trump, and I wish him all the best.

I agree. Liberal hubris is a good chunk of the answer to why Donald Trump was elected president, the other large chunk being the absolutely awful candidacy of Hillary Clinton. Liberals need to be made to understand that a good portion of the citizenry do not share their views on a good many subjects, and that if you ignore this fact for long enough, eventually a tipping point will be reached. Welcome to the tipping point...

I went to bed early. Well not early, I watched the results until around ten thirty. Florida, Ohio, North Carolina were still up in the air, no one even thought of Pennsylvania. The main thing being reported was Trump was still in it. I had expected Hillary to carry North Carolina and salt the election away by the time I went to bed. But still I went to bed thinking that Hillary would win this thing.

In the morning when I turned on the news, got the information that Trump had won. My first thoughts were "Holy Crap," and then "How?" Don't get me wrong, I have long been against both Trump and Hillary Clinton. I voted for Johnson early as I didn't want either one to be the next president. I had resigned myself to a Hillary Clinton presidency ever since Christie destroyed Rubio in the Republican New Hampshire Primary.

Once the surprise wore off, the first thing I did was to dig into the exit polls to find out why and how Trump won. The numbers provided that. Today, I am one happy camper that Hillary isn't going to be the next president. But I am very leery of Donald Trump. I don't trust him and I placed him in the same dishonest category as Hillary. But for the time being, I am taking a wait and see attitude. I'm not upset, just still surprised Trump won. There is time to get upset if it comes to that after he becomes president if it is warranted. Now I just wonder how many more surprises will come our way via the new president. I was also surprised the Republicans remained in control of the senate.

To be honest, I went to bed expecting Hillary to win the presidency and the Democrats to take control of the senate leaving the Republicans in control of the House with a loss of around 15 seats.

    "sh1t just got real." lol

To be honest after Comey's first letter I expected Trump to have a pretty good chance to win with Hillary's lead so low. I think the poll numbers were accurate if you adjusted for liberal bias and took off a few points.

As for why Hillary lost, there are just too many reasons.

But the biggest ones are Comey and that she's the more famous dishonest candidate. Trump is just as dishonest and maybe even more so, but less famous because a TV show host's dishonest dealings isn't that interesting to the public, but most people want to know which politician is dishonest.

When Nixon was elected, wiser people explained it to me by saying, "A nation gets the leadership it deserves". They were right then, and they are still right.
