http://lasvegassun.com/news/2016/nov/18/minnesota-mom-sues-teenage-child-over-transgender-/ This should be an interesting case study. I believe we should be especially protective of parental rights. I hope the school district and the clinic pay dearly. I wonder why the child is also being sued. There has to be more to the story.
This is incredible. So now the state and government can simply take your parental rights without even notifying you? I hope this woman wins and makes them pay dearly. This is an outrage. The law clearly states you are not an adult until the age of 18. If there are indeed mitigating factors to emancipate a child from his/her parents then there should be a law case with due process. This is nuts.
Teenagers are idiots. They know just enough to be dangerous, mostly to themselves. There is no way in hell they should be allowed to make this kind of decision for themselves.
Surely you don't think it's ok for a school and a clinic to provide these services without mom's consent.
` ` Here is a pdf copy of the lawsuit: https://www.thomasmoresociety.org/w...11/Verified-Complaint-11-16-16-w-exhibits.pdf
I know there are some that believe the school and these clinics should be able to do this without parental notification or consent; otherwise the school and the clinics wouldn't have done it. I'd like to know why?
I think there needs to be a way for them to get the services they need, same with Abortions, ect... if your old enough to be a parent, your old enough to decide for yourself this same teen doesn't need permission to have sex, so this type of thing shoudl be exempt from needing parental permission, same as birth control I think it's sad the mom cares so little about her child that she is suing her own child, she could of handled this better imo .
It appears she's only suing the child for access to the records. She's not suing for damages. There should be no such thing as exempt from parental notification and consent, not for abortion nor any type of medical treatment. The school won't even give my kid a Tylenol. I have to go to the nurse's office to give my kid over the counter medicine.
