Agree that it doesn't make it right. I have no problem admitting it was an invasion and that it was horific for First Nations of Australia. Nor that we ought to seek a treaty with them.

My point is that it was not exceptional. I'll wait for your moral outrage on behalf of the Welsh & Cornish aginast the English. Or should that be for the English against the Danes. Or the Danes and English against the Normans.

The actual invasion occurred on 18th Jan 1788, not 26th, so it is 363 days, as Jan 18th wouldn't be an improvement.

I'm an Australian and my only concern are issues related to Australia that I can help to make a change with. What happened throughout history is wrong in terms of invasion, murder and stealing of land, I don't care who did it, there is no justification. Just because the English were invaded does not justify the English invading others, which seems to be what you are suggesting.

It was bad and our forefathers and the system that doesn't attempt to sincerely correct it should be despised.

That is my only issue with your post but agree with everything else.

Then why reply, nobody is forcing you too and frankly I would be happy if you didn't. I get sick of your personal attacks and fabricated beliefs...

Clearly, you are far too hung up in trying to pretend something that you clearly are not. Clearly you were not present when the "ABOS" told all they did not like being called "ABOS".

So the 26/01 was the day the indigenous lost land??? Now, if you had actually had real understanding of what you were talking about, or even just listened to what the indigenous say, you would see how wrong your complaint is. The so called "ABOS" tell everybody they do not own the land. They also do not lay the same claim YOU are trying to make with this ignorant rant.

YOUR confected claims of reaching out to indigenous is only supported by the lack of credibility. As it is not ALL indigenous who lay claim to what you suggest, I would suggest your confected belief of demonstration of compassion is just that, FAKE.

Back to your personal attack, take your hatred elsewhere, clearly you more interested in sounding like you are something you are not. This post stands as demonstration of your true self...

I think we should keep in on the 26th FLICK the ABBOS, if they don't like it, leave!

You can project as much as you want but the truth is for all to see. I care little of your disingenuous attempts at insults as all who have seen your comments know who the disgusting one is and frankly I am not concerned with anything you have to say. Again your fabricated empathy is clear for all to see and the point of apologising for your labelling of people to suggest you have some connection is demonstration of ignorance you show. Since you wish to push your ignorance on me and your hatred is already apparent, not much more needs to be said.

I know you will not be happy until you think you have won some sort of ugly confrontation but I am not interest in anything you have to say...

You know I hear a lot of bullmanure from both sides when it comes to assimilation and "one nation" disambiguation: Pauline Hanson's One Nation,

Why, why do we all have to be the same, why do we all have to have "One Culture", and what is that "One Culture" we want. I love the mix of cultures, I love the hustle and bustle of the markets and shops at Cabramatta. I love the way the old Chinese ladies look up at you and smile innocently when they push in front of you at Paddies market because they have already given their order shouted in Chinese among another hundred screaming Chinese voices. Some of the most peaceful serine beautiful women I have seen have been stunningly dressed and wearing a hijab. Multiculturalism is OUR CULTURE, has been ever since we stole this land. The first fleet was full of people of different cultures. English, Irish, Scottish, American, African American, there were 235 non English first fleeters.

    http://www.fellowshipfirstfleeters.org.au/storie6.html

There were only around 730 convicts in total so around 1/3 were not from England. The first fleet was multicultural, we have always been multicultural, Australia doesn't mind multiculturalism it is just that some people don't like some cultures.

    LRL,
what a deeply moving comment. Well done, post of the month I would say,
We would be absolutely nothing without migrants, and I also love our diversity.
Celebrate it, don't fight against. Its stupid....
    Cheers

I do think the trolls should take note of Dr Ali's comments. Especially "you want to impose on them,"

I suppose my issues is that sometime people speak/act as if we as a nation should be in permanent state of unending flagellation and self abasement.
I just don't see that as being productive or helpful for anybody.
I used England as an example, I could have used nearly any part of Eurasia. France for example, the land of the Franks, an invading people over the celtic people, except for Normandy which was conquered by Northmen. etc

    How about two days...

Australian Federation day, 9th May as the celebration of the peaceful uniting of Australian states.

We then go to the Aboriginal/Torres Straight islanders and ask them via a referendum limited to them as to what national day they would like to add for us to celebrate with them. (Wik day, Mabo day, Doug Nicolls Day,

Spot on Sn, thanks for sharing.....
Having a normal understanding of right and wrong I cannot comprehend why people still hold on to the 26/01.....
But what would I know, Garry?
    Cheers
