Violent crime has not "plummeted." It has gown down from the era of the bloods and crips, thanks to tougher sentencing, which Obama just pissed on by releasing so many drug offenders.

Violent crimes are generally an inner-city problem and there are less crimes in a small country town regardless of demographics. There is more social control in a small country town to regulate individual and group behaviour, leading to conformity and compliance to the rules.

This news may lead to more tourism in Beattyville and they can advertise themselves as "The poorest, and safest, small town in America". Looks like pretty country and may check out that Woolly Worm Festival myself.

No significant difference in crime rates between black and white communities with equal levels of poverty.

And that applies to homogenous societies too where everyone is the same race. Areas of poverty have higher crime rates than those with higher incomes.

That did not prove your claim.

Your claim:

Nothing in that study came to that conclusion. They only proved the crime rates were similar among the poor between the races. It said nothing about your conclusion.

 

Glad to see that you actually read the study and understand that it exposed the fallacy of the OP that there is a "link" between "race and crime".

In essence those in poverty without any money will turn to crime. The fact that the town in the OP has federal welfare subsidies means that even though they are poor they still have an income and therefore do not need to turn to crime.

I don't intend to side with the 'race determines outcomes' crowd, but reminding people gently, firmly, and often, that more is expected - is the kindest way to motivate for improvement. If you insinuate (via actions) that nothing needs to be done, nothing will be done. The reason black Africans in my country are succeeding beyond whites, is because they are inheriting and bequeathing an expectation to succeed. Parents let their kids know, from day one, that they're expected to be hard working, honest, clean, and well educated.

Looking back at the recent passed where there was a massive support to keep that slave flag flying high on governmental buildings,... that seems to point out that a good proportion of the white community is racist in the US. Add to that, that unarmed black people are killed twice as often compared to white people, as % part of the population. Black people are getting treated worse in hospitals on average. Black people get longer sentences than white people in the same circumstances. White people use more drugs, in absolute numbers and % wise, while black people are busted again and again on this. You got instances like Ferguson where the entire police force and justice department -predominantly white- got busted being racist against blakc people.

So I do not really know what you are talking about.

 

Nonsense. Most of the white community is passed racism. The black community however is full of racism. To protest this is to live in a bubble.

They are the most violent group that we have by far. Statistics show this. They assault white people for no other reason than being white.

White racists are almost extinct compared to the black community racists.

Sure. Little access to government assistance offices. If you don't have a car, there is no public transportation. No grocery stores within walking distance. No service buildings. There's no housing inspections, people living on dirt floors. No WiFi or free Internet.
