As much as I hate to admit it, I have to say, after 2016, I'm more likely to watch Fox News (shhh, don't tell anyone).

Congratulations for seeking out an alternate news source. Don't stop watching the MSM though...Just compare and contrast and make up your own mind. Those who limit themselves to what they agree with are generally not well informed.

I have a question; many of the people that communicate via forums have long histories and relationships that inspire communication that may not be appropriate for the greater public or a particular forum itself, thus my question is, "would it be possible to have private messaging"? I understand that their are other outlets (via Skipe, FB, etc.) but we also enjoy the anonymous ambiguity that open forums provide.

    Hello Diamond.

    Welcome to the forum.

We do have a form of private communication here. If you scroll over your name, a dropdown box will appear. There is an area there titled "Conversations". Open that page. On the top right hand corner of that page you will see 'Start a New Conversation'. Open that page and there you can create private messages.

If you have any problems let me know.

Okay, thank you I found it. But my question also includes "if it is tolerated to have conversations there that might conflict with the TOS?"

Many of us are refugees from other political blogs. This one seems to be less likely, at least so far, to exert any draconian ideological purity. Your observations about the unwillingness of some platforms to host diverse opinion seems to reflect a quite wide spread belief within the liberal sphere that dissenting opinion, or fact is intolerable. Numerous platforms, have eliminated their user comments sections. Many media have removed their forums sites. I think many of us have felt the chill breeze of liberal censorship recently. I am hopeful that you'll find your experience here to your liking.

    Ok cool.

The rules for this board apply whereever you post on this board. We ask members to respect that fact.

If at any point a member needs to report a private conversation they can. This is the only way staff will be privy to any conversation in private between members here. Private is private here and we respect our members privacy.

That is so very true. I couldn't help but notice all the media articles closing their comment sections to silence the response of their readers.

The conversations I participate in (public or private) are generally always polite and respectful. I was referring more in regards to either having personal-private conversations or talking about other cites in private messaging.

I like the story behind the removal by NPR, for example. Conservative commentary being described as trigger speech or worse.

NPR is left wing media. Tax payers shouldn't have to pay to hear one sided media. It needs to go, or we need to start paying for Rush Limbaugh.

Can we claim we have been emotionally damaged, our triggers triggered, and psyches assaulted, and are therefore in need of a safe space in which we can lance our emotional boils and begin our healing process???
    Just wondering ...

Like I said Diamond, the rules apply everywhere you post here. I would imagine you would want to speak in private to people you are familiar with from another site. Seems pretty natural to me.
The reason we discourage members from speaking in the open forum about other sites is of course a matter of respect for the other places and people who would not be here to defend themselves. Secondly we certainly don't want to be a part of any board wars. Know what I mean? So if you guys want to discuss where you came from or your interactions there in private I cant see why not. As long as its not a call to crash a site or anything of that nature and or something that is said in private that gets reported as a rule violation.

I think you're pretty safe here to speak your mind. All we ask is that you follow the rules and post in a respectful manner.

    Welcome.

There is a slightly greater number of conservatives than liberals here. This site doesn't seem too obsessed with rules and ideology.

Hello, OP. Your story reminds me of my first attempt at joining a "non-partisan" political board years ago. It claimed to be welcoming of all viewpoints, non-partisan, and anonymous. My first post (right-wing but nothing extremist) was removed, I was e-mailed (so much for anonymity), and told if I posted anything like that again, I would be permanently banned. I challenged the admin with the claims about being non-partisan and welcoming of all viewpoints and was told that my viewpoint was not welcome at all. I asked what about free speech and was told that didn't apply to their website. That was about 15 years ago now.
