Religions evolve over time and become different things. Islam if used correctly is as valid a religion as any other. But Muhammad was a war mongering jerk with tons of wives. Sounds like every psychopathic cult leader I've ever heard of. Am I crazy?

I don't agree with that at all. Religion is what you make of it. I think Jesus sounds like a cool dude and Muhammad sounds like an ancient Charles Manson. Just my opinion.

No, you are incorrect. I base my opinion on what I've read about both men. Again not saying one religion is better than the other. Just saying Jesus as a person from what I can perceive seems like an okay dude. Muhammad seems like a psychotic conman akin t most cult leaders you see anywhere.

I'm not a religious scholar. But I spent half of every Sunday in a Lutheran church until high school and I briefly studied Islam at the graduate level in college.

The only thing I know for sure is that Jesus Christ was a better person and had a better message than Muhammad.

Well, Jesus didn't advocate military conflict and killing. And he didn't sleep with 8 year old girls.

As far as we know, he was celibate and he preached about peace, love, and helping the poor, etc.

I would consider myself to be anti-religious rather than anti-christian.

I have no problem with specific people who believe but I believe that belief in a deity is a desperate attempt to avoid the inevitability of death and that in many cases people use that belief to tell me how to live my life. Furthermore, religious organisations have sheltered child abusers for decades; if this were to happen if a liberal institution conservatives would riot yet we hear nothing from them on the matter.

What was said about Muhammad was true; I do wonder, however, if they would apply the same standards to the people of their own religion that could also be accurately described as such. My guess is no and that hypocrisy is one of the many problems I have with all religion.
