The Bible stories are full of contradictions, anachronisms and errors of geography... and its likely they were meant for study beyond stories for children.

It's free will, God knew his creations would become unworthy of his desires but for some reason wanted to watch them become evil so he could destroy them. He planned all this out sorta, but did not want to get blamed by said creations for creating them....except by some of the creation that used that free will to think about what an a$$hole he is.

 

I think that when people discuss the biblical God as being real in any way it just illustrates how brain-washed they really are. The biblical God was simply the series of men who ruled the dominant Middle Eastern empires in ancient times. That's why the character sometimes comes across as a lunatic.

 

That's a load of bull. The Hebrews had just entered Palestine. The people of Jericho had never heard of Israels god to have a chance of accepting him. In any case, they didn't have a chance. God had already delivered them into the Hebrews hands. That applied to many other cities. Regardless of their ignorance of Jahweh they were delivered and slaughtered by the Hebrews. Of course we know now that it never actually happened.

Why don't people actually study the Bible - not just read it?

 

The Holy Spirit is the comforter. I have peace of mind. It's truly wonderful. I agree with you that it's not working for many here. The torment is obvious.

 

Some people must study the Bible as if it was science and history or ALL their faith falls apart.

 

The Bible is the infallible Word of God. The fact that many people including me believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God is a threat to others because they spend a lot of time and energy trying to destroy that faith.

• Eternal God did nothing for (infinity minus 6000 years).
• Then Omniscient God, after all that time to think about it, created His Creation.
• Then the two people He Created, disobeyed Him, as He knew they would.
• Omniscient God then punished them for doing what He knew for Eternity they would do.
• A little later Omniscient God was so upset at the way His Creation turned out, that He horrifically wiped out (almost) everything and everyone.

Aside from childhood indoctrination, that's the most prevalent way people get sucked in. Find someone at a low point in life, when they are vulnerable, and indoctrinate them then.

 

When your only source of information is the Holy Bible you get misinformation.

 

Provide evidence for a Flood that covered the highest mountains of the entire Earth within the past 6000 years. That's all. Just a simple request. If you can do that, there will be no people who will spend a lot of time and energy trying to destroy your faith.

 

Might have something to do with the fact that owning another religion's holy text could get you executed by Christians for several centuries.

 

No such thing as "Abrahamic religions". That's a secular term. It's not a biblical term. Only Jesus is from the Covenant Abraham made with God. Islam is a lie from the devil.

 

I am not tormented, I am comfortable in my own skin. I draw my comfort from the love, respect and caring that I recieve from those I love, respect and care for. I guess I'm just a hedonist preferring my comfort in live human form.

Correct about Ishmael; however, he was not the promise. Isaac was. The Arab nation was not part of God's plan. They're of Abraham's flesh, not the Spirit.
