What irritates me about Republicans is that they would prefer to deficit spend than to raise taxes to pay for our spending. What kind of conservative value is that?

How would you fix healthcare? How would you fix income inequality? Which income group should get the most tax cuts and should we cut taxes with no way to pay for it with spending cuts? How would you deal with the challenges of climate change?

I have no idea, it's why I like Ron Paul and wish him or someone like him would run in 2020. But even if Ron Paul ran again I doubt he could overcome the bias media and the establishment that would be trying there hardest to make him lose.

I am going to have to go out on a limb here and say I don't know.

I would likely borrow from the left on healthcare by making a public option for those making less than 30k a year like Obama promised. I would fix income inequality by taxing the living daylight's out of import's so that we hire our own to make stuff again. I would remove the federal reserve and allow the market to choose it's own interest rates. The US treasury department would regain the power to print interest free money.

As for global warming I would greatly support nuclear power by cutting red tape and push slowly for cars that run on E100 made from sugar. Solar power is also a good option for power plants moving forward.

... and that is the problem with conservatism.

    Ok, two questions-

What is the proper role of government in a nation of free men?

How do you square social conservatism and its big-government like underpinnings with the principles of limited government that presumably inform core conservative philosophy?

    Thank you.

I agree. Republicans are supposed to want less government, but it seems like we always end up with some doofus who doesn't understand that. Less spending, a balanced budget, more of our money ending up in our hands, rather than the governments...

I knew that Trump was not going to be lowering the debt, so I have to be content with a good scotus pick, and hopefully a few more. He got rid of the TPP, amd NAFTA soon enough once we can get congress to go along with that. Keeping the borders secure, the wall...

    It's better than Hillary.

It's hard finding people who really want less of somebody else's money, as opposed to democrats who have no problem finding people who want more.

get government out of healthcare, then you'll be free to fix it yourself.

    Income inequality isn't a problem.

    Climate change isn't a problem.

Why don't conservatives push for socialism so the US can become a 3rd world hell hole like other socialist countries?

Why don't conservatives lie to women and minorities to get their votes because they do seem to fall for it?

Why not just raise taxes and then We the People will have the money we need as a country? Doesn't that make more conservative sense than borrowing the money we need from China and having to pay them interest?

And one more tax question from a conservative perspective, how exactly have hardworking middle class Americans benefitted from tax cuts for the 1%? And I want specifics like income, benefits, standard of living, quality of life, etc, etc.

People who earn less than 30K already have medicare so I don't see how this will be helpful. The problem is that heathcare is far too expensive for everyone including the middle class, and in Europe they pay a fraction of the cost.

You don't want to go too far there because other countries will do the same and we will do a dramatic fall in exports and jobs in those sectors, and a big price hike. This should be done slowly and carefully in sectors we can replace foreign labor.

Another problem is that globalization isn't the only thing aggravating income inequality. Over time more and more jobs are being mechanized and this has let to a gradual increase in unemployment and it is estimated that more than half of all current jobs will be mechanized in a few decades. We are seeing a loss of retail jobs as online buying rises and many stores close their doors. Many fast food stores and other stores are replacing their employees with ordering kiosks.

There are also other fuel sources like hydro, wind, bio-fuel, and hydrogen fuel. Do you think we need to give these industries further tax breaks, and pay for this with increased taxes on oil, coal, and natural gas?

We have a 20 trillion dollar national debt and increase our money supply by 2% every year, and I don't see how we are going to just print our way out of this. The problem is that we spend more than we earn and this needs to be fixed. The problem with printing money is that it reduces the value of American money and makes saving far less beneficial. Inflation is really just a saving tax.

The government regulates healthcare to ensure it is safe, and pays for healthcare for poor people, but doesn't actually run healthcare or provide it to most people. Specifically what do you want the government do you want to not do that will measurably lower the cost? Lets be specific here.

Yes it is, 60% of new economic growth goes to the top 1%. Globalization and mechanization are exasperating this problem.

Yes it is, we have seen a 2 degree increase in temperatures and scientists estimate a 4 degree increase in the next century alone.

To sides of love....the soft side and the hard side. You have been taught to see the hard side as hate, like so many.

We need to face it....those values come largely from Christian /Judeo ethics. Walk around D.C. and see that reflected everywhere. Start with the Supreme Court Building. Is that Moses?

Specifically, which rights? And how do you balance competing interests? My right to X v your right to Y?
