Trump can't apply a rational thoughtful response because his instinctual reaction to every situation is how he can/will benefit from it.

 

Not sure how even the most stupid of people feel that Trump "beat the **** out of Democrats" when he lost the popular vote by 3 million votes, and then had to lie to convince his sheep that he actually won the popular vote. Since he was inaugurated he has not been able to get any of his "promises" passed, and most of his EO's are pure publicity stunts with no authority. Now he is putting off building the wall until next fall. The aid he is getting from China on No. Korea is based on an agreement made by Obama. He has alienated virtually every NATO member, and is now having to kiss ass to get any respect from them. He wants to end the funding for the EPA, and thus the Great Lakes system will lose 300,000,000 dollars in cleanup funds, and pollution will return. He has now enacted a 25% tax on softwood from Canada. And the list goes on of his failures.

And this is just the first 100 days.
