Litter box, no barking, no walks, more independent.
...and fish are even easier. :D

Far less damage... Nothing more destructive than a puppy! :D

I couldn't go away all day and leave a puppy home alone; god forbid, two! But I can leave two cats home alone.

The question is flawed. Which makes the best pet depends which you prefer. I like both but have only had one dog as a pet but had 4 different cats. Dogs are too needy and demanding for me and will love any master no matter how badly they are treated, they're kinda dumb. Cats on the other hand are far less demanding, more intelligent and only love you if you've earned it.

I have two dogs and one cat. The cat is boss of the house or yard where ever he happens to be. As far as choosng which is the better pet that would be hard to do. I love all of them.

Kitty cats are cute, independent and clean. I prefer cats although I do not mind dogs unless the dog is a pitbull. Those dogs are just ugly and gross.

Growing up, our cat defaced all of our couches with her scratching. All of our dogs never did that much damage.

Aww, no they aren't. How can you look at those ears and call that ugly.
Just use caution around the ones you dont know. They are great dogs with the right owner.

Actually, my cat will make a point of waking me up at a certain time...and not to be fed, either; he just has a sense of when I should start to show signs of life. They can also raise the alarm if something scary like a fire starts.

I won't deny that I get a feeling of wry amusement whenever I read that one of the 'usual suspect' breeds - Rottweiler, Staff terrier, Alsatian, Doberman etc - has attacked its owner. [IMG]

    Ok, never mind.

I read somewhere that there are such things as teacup pigs, but you have to get from a reputable breeder. The article you posted says there is no such animal. I'll play it safe and never get one.

Dogs chew things and cats claw and pee on things. I've had worse luck with cats. Any future cat will be outdoors only, so probably no cats.

Only if they are totally irresponsible stupid people, most I've seen are really good owners.
...but I get that way with people who own tigers or lions. They aren't helping those animals and all big cats are dangerous.

Cats are excellent judges of character.

    Dogs are not.

Dogs are easy. They are like drunk girls at a bar -- they will love anybody.

    Cats are more particular.

The cats probably got a really good read on you so they farted on purpose whenever you were around them.

Rabbits are only good for food.
