MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A white Minnesota man who was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison Wednesday for shooting and wounding five black protesters said he'll live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life, but stopped short of apologizing.

Allen Scarsella's sentence of 15 years and two months was short of prosecutors' request for the maximum 20 years but within state guidelines. The 25-year-old Bloomington man was convicted in February on assault and riot charges for shooting the five men at a Black Lives Matter protest encampment outside a north Minneapolis police station following the fatal police shooting of a black man, Jamar Clark, in 2015.

Prosecutor Chris Freeman dismissed self-defense claims that Scarsella made during his trial. He called the crime, "five unarmed black men gunned down in what can only be described as a mass shooting" by a man whose numerous racist texts to friends made his motivations clear to the jury.

Don't see the problem here, the perpertrator was caught and sentenced accordingly. No one should ever resort to violence, but when BLM became a radical terrorist organization, there would be others who'd feel justified in responding with violence. The blame should go towards the lack of condemnation by political actors.

The incident in question happened back in 2015, but a lot has happened since then.

Specifically a lot of escalation in the frequency and severity of Leftist rioting and violence

So the next time somebody fires their gun into a crowd of peaceful protesters violent rioters its highly likely to be a legitimate case of self defense (/cough Berkeley).

If he had been a Muslim he would have received more serious charges and got life.

Cops and prosecution went as easy on him as they could.

 

Actually he would have gotten the Death Penalty or at least 200yrs.

 

The difference is that when guys like this assault others the right generally disowns them, whereas when people like Yvette Felarca assault others and persistently say that they will continue to escalate their terrorist methods and obstruct speech by any means necessary, the majority of the left views them like heroes and martyrs, including prominent leftist leaders.

I don't see why this case is not attempted murder. I don't know what type of gun was used, but shooting at 5 people presumably from close range, surely is attempted murder?
