To the best of my knowledge, it is the first time in history.

The US has murdered or attempted to murder some 60+ heads-of-State, so it is something the US would do.

In order for that to happen China, importing 60+% of North Korean exports and South Korea importing 20+% of North Korean exports would have to levy a trade embargo against North Korea.

The loss of revenues from the trade embargo would cause an economic meltdown in North Korea.

Gradually strangling DPRK's economy hasn't worked, the Chinese relieve excessive pressure, they have to in order to prevent a massive flow of immigrants. DPRK has been pushed and held at the brink with famines, but still manages to pull through and continue nuclear and missile purchases.

Unless China is ready to effectively close all trade, this trade tool is useless. That leaves just the other two.

The primary reasons for previous communist collapses were not embargoes.

How many times tried the CIA to kill Fidel Castro again?
This is usual CIA business for decades... and anyone who denies this is living in a fairy tale world!

Show me any embargo in history which worked so good to get the wanted result with it ... I find not a single one!

Well there's always a first time. Levy a full trade embargo against North Korea and we'll see how effective it is.
