What am I denying? You're over stating Cheney's influence. If Cheney was truly in charge, Scooter Libby would have been pardoned, and Rumsfeld would have never been forced to resign.

The 1990-91 recession ended in March 1991.

President Bill Clinton didn't take office until January 1993!!

 

Of course there is the delusion that things can be done only one way and the only ones that can do it are the insular political elitists.

 

Clinton didn't do **** except be a president during the raging era of the Dot.Com boom.

 

The boom of the 1990s was basically due to several factors only one of which involved President Clinton.

1) The dot.com boon.
2) The Asian Recession. Roughly one third of the worlds economy was in recession driving down global oil prices dramatically.
3) Deadlock in Washington D.C. After the GOP took control of Congress the Republicans prevented President Clinton from creating any major domestic spending programs while Clinton prevented the Republicans from cutting taxes. The growing economy then steadily raised revenues resulting in the elimination of the budget deficits.

 

Obama was a state senator, then a US senator, with a Harvard law degree.

 

State senator is no great achievement. U.S. Senator for only four years isn't that big a think experience wise either.

And Harvard Law degree?

Of course, that is another factor. Trump fed on hate, hatred of a black president, hatred of illegal immigrants, and hatred toward Muslims.

Which brings me to Trump's visit to Riyadh. Saudis aren't stupid. They know what Trump said during his campaign. They know of his two travel bans leveled at Muslim nations. They also know of his narcissistic persona and his need to be adored. So, they praise him loudly and often because they want something from him. Direct action against Iran for starters. Meanwhile, Trump soaks it up, enjoying the praise being lavished upon him.

 

Obama's degree was awarded Magna cum Laude - which means his grades were very good, indeed.
Better than a lousy Bachelor degree with no honors like the so-called president has.

 

I do not see what being unfaithful has to do with being a good leader. There have been many good leaders who slept around on their wives.

 

Ike is also responsible for our freeway system. I'm from CA. I'm not sure that is a good thing.

 

Obama's educational background is in political science; Trump's educational background is in economics.

There is no comparison; it is demonstrably impossible not to graduate without honors in political science. All college degrees are not created equal; for obvious reasons.

 

Clinton wasn't impeached because of his sexual proclivities. He was impeached because he lied about it -- to a grand jury.

 

The question is who was the best leader not, why Clinton was impeached.

I am not saying Clinton was better than Bush Sr. - just making the point that he should not lose the contest because he got a BJ from his secretary.

 

Junior knew very little about foreign affairs. In this area he relied on Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz. That's what got him in trouble.

 

Nuclear Physics is much harder than either but, in general I do not a Nuclear Physicist running.

Being a President is not about who is the best in Math. In terms of understanding the principles on which this nation was founded and the Constitution - poly Sci is a good degree to have.

That said - Obama violated everything he had previously stood for when he got into office ( Constitutional scholar, Civil rights activist) by trampling on the founding principles and the constitution.

 

One studies Nuclear Physics to become a nuclear physics; one studies political science to become.... that has yet to be determined.

Being president isn't about anything but being a leader. A Poly Science degree can't teach you to be a leader.

 

Business does not teach being a leader either ... and even if it did - this would not necessarily make one a good leader.

 

LOL. Close to LA are you? IKE while still in the military at one time or another had to drive from the east coast to the west coast. I think it took him 18 days. So IKE developed the interstate system basically to transport the military from one coast to the other in a timely fashion. It was a military need that lead to the interstate system.

 

Management is a subset of the business field, which most certainly does teach leadership.

There is no such thing as being a "good leader;" management/leadership studies have different variants of what characteristics a leader must have. However, most have determined that leadership all depends on the situation.

 

Are you referring to Bush, Jr., and the Great Recession? No, of course not, you are referring to Bush, Sr. I don't hold Junior responsible for the Great Recession and I don't hold daddy responsible for a minor turn down in the economy. Presidents have very little control over the economy.

Here is what is interesting. Generally speaking, recessions occur during Republican administrations. Recovery and prosperity occur during Democratic administrations. The graph shows what I mean. It runs from 1923 to 2009.
