Actually, since Ronald Reagan. His 1981 tax bill was the legislation that enshrined trickle down economics, which remains the core of US income tax policy to this day. That and taxing income from investment at a far lower rate than income earned from work. These two things are what started and accelerated the gradual shift in both wealth and earnings away from the Middle Class.

Now I have $8 light bulbs that will last the rest of my life (literally) and burn 1/8 the electricity.

Single Payer systems in those social-democracies cover 100% of their population for LESS than it costs here in the USA to cover just a fraction of the population.

If you don't remember .25c light bulbs then you aren't very old. I can remember buying a pack of 10 light bulbs for $2.50 at the hardware store when Reagan was President. Most of the price increase since then were the result of Marxist Democrat regulation.

The US lags behind no one. Why do you think people want to come to the US instead of Europe? The European welfare states are failing from the huge influx of refugees the EU has forced them to take in. Brexit is just the beginning of the revolts that will be seen in Europe. Why do you think Europe has such a low annual economic growth rate and such a high normal unemployment rate? You didn't even bother to address these truths, you just repeated the same old canards!

As I tried to tell you, those social democracies use a QALI metric to determine who gets treated and who doesn't. That doesn't happen in the US. You just totally blew off the example I gave you of Obama saying old people should get a pain pill instead of a pacemaker. *THAT* is how the social democracies spend less than we do, they don't treat everyone, especially the elderly.
