I read the thread, and there's 1 correction I should make to my reply. CNN doesn't insult the intelligence of all of it's viewers ... some actually have very little to insult.

 

Comey had no way of knowing what was fake and what was not.

However I do think he should have stayed out of the spotlight and not said anything about Hillary or Donald.

 

Comey ‘Cleared for Takeoff’ in Public Testimony Next Week

Fired FBI Director James Comey is expected to testify in public before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week after having been "cleared for takeoff" by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a source close to Comey told NBC News.

The source, a former law enforcement official, declined to say whether Mueller had specifically authorized Comey to discuss his interactions with President Trump, but said it was reasonable to expect that subject to come up.

Mueller was named earlier this month by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to be special counsel overseeing the sprawling FBI investigation into Russian election interference.

People close to Comey have said he is eager to testify in public in the wake of his abrupt dismissal, which Comey allies believe was an attempt to thwart the FBI's investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia's election interference.

But there had been some question as to whether Mueller would seek to block Comey's testimony, for fear it could impede his investigation.

When White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked Wednesday about Comey's upcoming testimony, he declined to answer and said he was referring all media questions on the matter to President Donald Trump's outside counsel, Marc Kasowitz.

Comey wrote a memo about nearly every phone call and meeting he held with Trump, sources close to him have told NBC News, and he was concerned that Trump did not appear to respect the decades-long tradition that the FBI director should be independent from the White House.

The evidence would carry no more weight than the words of the person writing the notes. Writing something down doesn't make it true.

 

You believe that Mueller clearing Comey to give testimony, somehow indicates that Comey will agree to give testimony? Comey had agreed earlier, then cancelled over committee refusing his conditions. Comey might risk a public hearing, but closed door? I doubt it. Especially since learning 7, yes 7, Obama admin. members have just gotten subpoenas.

 

Comey has nothing to fear.. He documents all meetings and telephone conversations like executives everywhere.

 

Do you think he's documented exactly when, and by whom, he was informed the Lynch memo was Russian disinformation? Did he make notes of the dates and hearings were he committed perjury? Maybe he has some records of his illegal dissemination of intel? Fraudulent FISA applications? Comey is in serious trouble. What DATE is CNN reporting their anonymous source has given for Comeys hearing?

Let me see if I have this straight with Comey's upcoming testimony about his meeting with president Trump.

There were two people in the room.
No recording devices.
The memo doesn't count as it was written by Comey and could be made to say anything.

Comey, a man with no credibility will testify that Trump tried to obstruct his investigation.
Trump, another man will no credibility with presumably deny the accusation.

Trump supporters will believe Trump.
Non Trump supporters will believe Comey.

No one other than Trump and Comey will know the truth. Nothing will change.

The FBI determined by August that the document was likely a Russian plant consisting of bad intelligence.

It described an email that was allegedly sent by Debbie Wasserman Schultz — then the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee — to an official at billionaire George Soros' Open Society Foundations. The document didn't include the email, which supposedly described how Lynch had privately assured a Clinton campaign staffer during the election that the DOJ wouldn't take the email probe too far.

Matt Rojansky, a Russia expert and director of the Kennan Institute at the Wilson Center, told the Post that the fact that the Russians would cook up a story linking the Clinton campaign to a conspiracy involving her email server, an Obama administration appointee, and George Soros — frequently villainized by the right as a meddlesome "globalist" — is "not surprising."

"That is part of the Kremlin worldview," he said.

The discovery of the document, which the FBI has now determined to be largely if not entirely fraudulent, reportedly factored into Comey's decision to bypass the DOJ last summer and announce the findings of the FBI's email server probe in a press conference on July 5. (Another factor was Lynch's private meeting the week prior with former President Bill Clinton on an airport tarmac in Phoenix.)

Current and former officials familiar with Comey's thinking told the Times and the Post that Comey was worried that if Lynch closed the case and Russia leaked the document, it would cast doubt on probe's credibility and independence.

Sorry that's pretty dang weak especially when you realize when this happened. Trump fired Flynn and felt bad he had done something stupid but just said take it easy on him he's a good guy. Not stop the investigation, not demanding anything, not threatening anything, but the exact same thing that takes place in DOJ offices every day. Its another fail by your side but keep hoping and believing.
