Trump: I'm '100 percent' willing to testify under oath

Here is the key paragraph in the NYT story and it is typical of how the left thinks:

Trump's biggest crime as far as liberals are concerned was that he would not give in to their demands

Take him down if you can but don't expect him to meekly surrender and throw himself on the mercy of his accusers

I can guarantee everyone that the OP is correct; the donald will never voluntarily testify under oath (key word is voluntarily). I can also guarantee any one and every one that there are 'no tapes'. Tapes would only prove that trump was nothing more than a lying piece of s---. Even if trump did have a secret recording system he will announce there were no tapes.

 

What would be the purpose of him taking an oath to answer these questions? It doesn't matter what was said between Trump and Comey. It's not obstruction of justice for a president to use his constitutional powers. Trump can order the FBI to halt ALL investigations tomorrow, and there is nothing illegal about that.

I agree he doesn't have a leg to stand on. If the NSA and the DNI confirm reports of trump direct requests to "go easy on flynn" or to "talk to the fbi" he's toast.

I don't care how many jailhouse lawyers agree with my opinion. All or none is irrelevant. None of us are going to be adjudicating the issue. I'll leave it to the courts.

That is such an ignorant claim it is hard to describe. The President can order the Director of the F.B.I. (the Director is not the top of the F.B.I.'s authority list, it is the president) to undertake or discontinue any investigation he wants to.

President Trump could have told Comey "I order you to discontinue the investigation into General Flynn" and the president would have been exercising his final authority over F.B.I. investigations and any other matter of any domestic or foreign policy implications for any reason give or no reason give whatsoever.

Comey was not the be-all, know-all top of the US government. The investigation of Flynn may have been seriously interfering with other foreign policy or intelligence matters. Possibly Flynn was working with the NSA, CIA, Justice Department and/or President in ways Comey did not know nor any reason to info Comey (particularly now that we know Comey is both a liar and a leaker).

Who the hell did Comey think he was? We now know. Comey believed HE was head of the DOJ. That HE was the chief executive of the government. That HE was who sets domestic and foreign policy. That HE was the final authority and had the final say on everything. Comey was an ego maniac loose cannon on the deck and, as a leaker admittedly to try to alter and influence investigations and USA foreign policy, an extremely dangerous one.

No, Comey was not the President of the United States, despite his believing he had the authority to act like he was, nor did Comey have the authority to exempt himself from criminal laws as he clearly believes.
