Obama had absolutely no military experience and fired Generals that disagreed with him. Obama only kept Generals around that agreed with him.

Now we have Mad Dog running the show and the left is complaining for some reason.

Well obviously the left is going to complain. If the Mad Dog actually finishes the job, all those displaced Syrians can go home. Those are lost votes. Of course they're pissed.

Yeah, well, every great general winds up the victim of politics.

Sudden urge to rewatch Patton for the 50th time.

General Mad Dog Mattis is the best thing to happen to the military. We fully support our Secretary of Offense!

I'll be honest, I know less about the man than I'd like, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone that's either currently active, or recently discharged say anything negative about him. And that's impressive.

One thing you should know about any good General, any GREAT military leader, they are absolutely CRAZY. But it's a different type of crazy.

‘Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.’

That part I've been aware of for a while, I just never really looked at the top brass with any sort of... interest. I mean, Patton was absolutely nuts. Believed he was a Roman Emperor reincarnated or some such, but was easily the best we had for WWII.

Funny story about that quote you just gave though...

Last place I was working for, one of my Ops Managers was a long retired Army Ranger. Vietnam Era. We were outside on a break, which was only supposed to be 15 minutes. He goes into this "You wanna know something about people Joe? They're rabbits. All of em. Rabbits. Victims that don't have a clue they're victims. You know the best way to kill a rabbit? You go where the water is. Don't waste your time with that bullshit you see in movies, where you spend 10 days tracking someone through a forest by their boot prints. Waste of time. You go where the water is. Everyone needs water. The second that little rabbit puts it's head down to drink, pow. Lights out, and all you feel is recoil. Now let me tell you about this time I was....."

From there it was various war stories. But I stayed right where I was and didn't move for 45 minutes. This wasn't because I was enamored with the war stories. It was because he literally just said everyone's a rabbit, and in his mind, I'd already been killed 5 different times. Not that he'd act on it, but if he slipped back into "that place", and I made any sudden movements, well....

    You know how that ends.

The Democrats haven't taken national security seriously since the late 1960's.

The left in America believe the purpose of the U.S. military is to be used for social engineering, not fighting wars.

There's a survey out there of female sailors in the U.S. Navy where 1/3 of the females serving in the Navy believe that the U.S. Navy isn't in the war fighting business.

Haha cool story. Something he said reminds me of a quote from an unknown sniper. When a reporter asked what he felt when he shot a terrorist the sniper replied "recoil".

Hey ArmySoldier, do you know what was the most effective counter sniper weapons platform ever developped and enemy snipers feared and avoided being in the area of ?

    And it had no recoil.
