Being the first weekend of official summer let's pay some homage to it. Gonna play a couple of tunes from back in the day. Don't let my personal myopia of what summer songs are steer the thread though, post what you like !

This one is an oldy but goody..

And this is a bit odd, but sounds like summer for an American kid from the 1980's

    Homage? To summer?

But if I had to 'celebrate' summer (shudder), it'd be with any song which evokes cold weather.

My music teacher in 3rd grade used to play this on the piano all the time and forced us to sing at our graduation.

    Traditional Swedish summer-song:

    Translation
    The flower-times now are coming
    With lust and beauty vast
    The delightful summer is approaching
    When grass and corp grows
    With gentle and lively warth
    Everything that has been dead
    Is touched by sunshine
And all comes back to life

    The wonderful meadows
    And the field's noble grains
    The rich herbs
And the grove's all green trees
    They all will us remind
    Of God's godness' wealth
    That we bethink the mercy
    That lasts all year around

    Oh no! lol
My first school when I was 4 made us sing Brown Girl in the Ring by Boney M...

    'There's a brown girl
    In the ring
    Tralalalala'

    and

    Puff the Magic Dragon
    'who lived by the sea...'

My 2nd school after I moved, still young, made us sing
    'Obla di, Obla da, da...
    Desmond had a market...'
    (or somthing like that)...

Then later in secondary school, we had to sing Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly, and my whole school ad-libbed 1 time, 2 times, like we were Wycliffe and it was the Fugees.

Hahaha. All of them equally annoying. :D

I remember when I graduated high school, the last week we practiced this dumb song we were supposed to perform together with the rest of the graduating students. But, that all turned to hell as no one was willing to sing more than the first two lines before bursting out of the doors - Black Friday style. Full chaos. Teachers were so disappointed (What they expect? lol).

I would liked to have broken out in my own The Real Slim Shady followed by being lead guitarist in a band that covered an epic Guns N' Roses tune perfectly... but that wasn't happening back then.

I got to sing along with the rest and didn't even get to perform.

For me, this song always evokes thoughts of hot, hazy Summer days in the South...

Nice pick, Rhetoric - I didn't see that one coming.

Here's a track from an album that has always screamed Summer to me...
