Oh my , how dramatic.....oooh , death panels....made entirely in your own mind...

But I especially like the really over-the-top "" family struggle to free their captive child from the clutches of the deadly corrupt EU elite political class. """

    :roflol:

The only thing more hilarious is trying to picture that blimp Trump doing ANY kind of Judo....

I'm sure you want to "win" so that baby can be used in a lab experiment like a rat and live a horrible painful " life " just so you can claim Trump "won" something...despicable....

Gee, ya left off the part with the facts and I'm not surprised:

""""""The child cannot hear, see, move, or breathe on his own, suffers frequent seizures, and has irreversible brain damage at the cellular level. Even the American neurologist working with the family has conceded the treatment is unlikely to improve his condition; what is more likely is that Charlie is in pain. """"

(THAT is what YOU are wishing on a baby, CELEBRATING, just to prove a political point, DESPICABLE and barbaric....)

""""Trump’s showboating is infuriating given his attacks on the kind of scientific and medical research that would make life better for children like Charlie. His proposed budget would slash funding for the National Institutes of Health by $5.8 billion. It would also cut Medicaid, which covers 39 percent of American children, by $800 billion; the Senate's version of the health care bill makes other devastating cuts to the program. Meanwhile, the U.S. infant mortality rate is already significantly higher than the rates in Europe and other developed parts of the world."""""""

Which "foremost expert" is that and what are his credentials? The one hoping to have another guinea pig to experiment on in the hope of future sells and approval of the unlicensed drug at huge cost?

Not to be crude but that's how science advances. Vaccines, someone tried it first. Open heart surgery etc etc.

But that's not my issue here, I'm just don't like government making life and death decisions about individual citizens.

    Cheers

I wasn't suggesting anything about governments. I was responding to your comment:
Governments step in when parents do dumb things. You seem to have a problem with that. Perhaps you think that religious people have to right to withhold medical treatment because what happens to the child is god's will.

I wouldn't plan his funeral just yet..., A US congressman is submitting a bill next week to make Charlie a US citizen.

You seem to be under the impression that if something is repeated often enough, it becomes true. That only works for sheeples, it doesn't work for rational people.

Sheeples believed trump when he repeated, over and over, that he would make America Great Again. Sheeples believed him. Rational people did not.

For anyone interested in the disease instead of the obvious posturing for political gains surrounding this case, read this:

    http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S000527281500050X

It seems that there are two scenarios in which nucleoside supplement therapy could work, both related to defects in nucleoside degradation. The doctors must know which mutation is carried by the child, so it would be possible to predict whether nucleoside supplementation would give him a chance or not. My guess is that there is more to the case than being made known by those who use it for political gain, but most likely the public and the parents do not have enough scientific background to judge the biochemistry behind the case.

Trump spends a few seconds sending out a tweet and you and the rest of his disoriented opposition are spending days - soon weeks composing one absurd essay after another in a hopeless attempt to deal with it. Judo.

A death panel can arrest you and sentence you to death. Government has an unfortunate tendency to do that sort of thing. It worries ordinary people.
Hence the effectiveness of Trump's tweet.

Which is why the parents decided to choose a doctor to treat their child.

What are you so worried about? Are you worried that a treatment may actually work?

Why are you willing to sacrifice a small child's final chance at life to protect your ideology?

WHERE did I say that in the post of mine you quoted? Answer: NO where, which means you could NOT HONESTLY address the post.

    Like stem cell research?

........and labeling that baby a guinea pig was spot on......this baby has NO hope of "recovery" or being "cured"....and wanting to prolong it's suffering to help others feel 'special " and caring or make a political point is barbaric and despicable.......

Since I made it about all the OTHER dying babies...the millions who are conveniently ignored if Trump doesn't tweet about them.

WHY is THIS particular baby so special? Because it's white? Because Trump tweeted about it and can use it's suffering for political purposes?

There are babies that could be saved simply by being given food!!!.

Are all these "Save The Baby From the Clutches of DEATH PANELS" drama queens sending millions of dollars to feed these SAVEABLE babies?

Would Trump let a baby from Syria into the country ?

..and yet this baby who will never think, talk or hear is soooo special....but compassion has NOTHING to do with it....

Why do you think the treatment will work?

Why are you so willing to use a sick baby as a lab rat to protect political ideology?

Why are you so terrified of facts?:

Thanks for your frank admission that government Death Panels are the issue.

That is why Trump's tweet has been so effective. It instantly focuses attention on the real issue. Ordinary people are very afraid of government Death Panels.

Since it is likely that the Death Panels will defy Trump's tweet his tweet will continue to be effective for a very long time. Judo.

The most common instrument of death used by government death panels is denial of care.

“The hospital is part of the Veterans Affairs medical system, the nation’s largest integrated health care organization, which has been under scrutiny since 2014, when the department confirmed that numerous patients had died awaiting treatment at a V.A. hospital in Phoenix. Officials there had tried to cover up long waiting times for 1,700 veterans seeking medical care. A study released by the Government Accountability Office in April indicated that the system had yet to fix its scheduling problems.”

“Why Mr. Kaisen decided to end his life was not immediately known, but two people connected to the hospital who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss his death said that he had been frustrated that he was unable to see an emergency-room physician for reasons related to his mental health. “He went to the E.R. and was denied service,” one of the people, who currently works at the hospital, said. “And then he went to his car and shot himself.” New York Times, Veteran Kills Himself in Parking Lot of V.A. Hospital on Long Island, By KRISTINA REBELOAUG, 8/24/16.

Big Government is mass murder. It is its ultimate raison d'etre.

Thanks for pointing this out. Trump and his supporters are showboating in this case, trying to advertise their "compassion".

At the same time, they advocate for slashing funding to the NIH, which is used to research rare genetic diseases like this one. The article I have cited in my last post, for example, was funded federally by the MRC (Medical Research Council), which is somewhat similar in objective to the US NIH. Trump is grandstanding, while trying to take funding away for such basic research studies, which are the basis in the first place that a kid like this has a chance because we know the genetic makeup of his disease.

Now, imagine all medicine was free market based, as is GOP mantra. Would the free market give a cra* about a very rare disease like this one? No, because no profit could be made. With no government funded research, we probably wouldn't even know what mitochondrial deficiency diseases are, let alone knowing that there is at least a chance that some of the can be treated with nucleoside replacement therapy.

The faux compassion for political gain on this case is just ridiculous.

Yet, denial of care because of inability to pay is probably perfectly fine with you.

Since you're doing nothing to offer real compassion, someone whose life has been ruled ended has to settle for any brand they can get.

Trump's opposition is so upset because his kind gesture undermines support for the elite corrupt deadly global political class and its minions.

Trump has thrown them for a loop yet again with nothing more than a short tweet. Trump could teach Putin a lot about political judo. ;-)

LOL! Of course it is effective.

Especially when Trump's opposition can't resist repeating it for him. ;-)
