What are you trying to salvage? The NE and I would imagine some Northern States won't want any part of it.

Quite a few historically purple States that flashed red will likely come to their senses. More and more it is becoming clear that the red States are siding with the likes of Putin; essentially declaring war on the US election system, judges, the intelligence community, the free press, the limits of power, decency...

Funny that Republicans are red. I guess Tim Russert knew what he was doing.

So when do we bust out the nukes then?

Because I don't get what you or anyone else is looking to happen to Russia unless it's a war against Russia.

Because it suddenly occurred to a bunch of liberals/progressives/Democrats that if the near impossible happened and California was gone the Democrats would never control part of the U.S. government again.

Its up to California to decide if California will secede or not. Has nothing to do with Texas or your political balance of power calculations.

But yes, California isn't going to secede, the "progressives" don't have the guts to strike out on their own. Plus they know they won't succeed without the rest of the nation to bail them out.

But little industry. Land and forests are the only natural resources of any significance in Washington and Oregon. And natural resources only count for anything if you use them. Are all the green fanatics going to suddenly allow forests to be harvested and minerals be mined and oil wells be drilled, and are they going to put $$$ ahead of a little minnow and a turtle?

On their own, reality would very quickly destroy the façade of "progressive" life in California and Washington and Oregon.

The highest level of illiteracy is in Blue states.

I guess you're going to have to just endure the unbearable "oppression by religious zealots."

But please do tell of the horrors of oppression you have personally suffered. Be specific.

LMAO. The state that let a juvenile delinquent off of killing people from drunk driving because of "Affluenza"? How very "American" of TX.

LMAO. The largest tech firms are still in CA and growing and not going anywhere. Where is TX on this list:

Are we going to pull this my "man" is bigger than yours business again?

PFfft....then we are free to trade with other nations, while TX and the rest that join them can be a "closed" economy.

California would not go as a whole state. The northern part has been trying to get out of california for a long time.

As far as WA and Oregon, you'd get a couple counties maybe. Good luck taking the states from those of us already living here.

    Lol, sure.
Now that it's Californians threatening to secede, reality is starting to sink in for the libs not in California?
Sorry, we Texans aren't going to secede because some libs might get their feelings hurt because 'its not fair' if California secedes.

And Texas seceding is a liberal wet dream but I see you failed to say that.

So, you're not into comprimises? Why am I not surprised?

The idea of California seceding is simply a partisan hack and would be a major blow to the US. You can argue until the cows literally come home, and pigs grow wings, but when you compress it down into one statement, that's what it boils down to. Texas hasn't been sane since you guys lost Ann Richards, and Texas-sized conservative psychos-Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, Greg Abbott, George W. Bush, have all come out of the Lonestar state. If not secession, your state needs to seriously stop embarrassing yourselves.

California seceding isn't going to happen, and its not because of progressive opposition, its simply common sense California belongs here as much as Florida or Maine does.

Nope. Florida will take it's rightful place as the biggest fruit and vegetable producer in the states and we'll tariff or embargo the Pacific states.

Yes, yes, anything California wants to do should simply be made legal and then...no more problem, right?

No one seriously thinks CA will be seceding from the union. In the first place, no one would let them, second place, they would come to their senses. It is just a joke. It is just something to have fun with.

I'd be willing to forgive the people of Sacramento, since this did come out of the Bee.

I think people have come to their senses on a lot of things that look good in soundbites but not good in real life. California seceding, to the far-right conservative sounds good, but in reality its bad for the country.

Pathetic post... those taxes go to do a lot of things for AMerica... YOu know where that money goes now ? Into the people controlling the company. 10 people, maybe 20 vs being spread thru the workers and people that need it... Keep on kissin the rich azz and maybe they will make you an honorary putz... You could have a guest appearance on family guy... or the Simpsons and at the beginning of every duck dynasty episode you can blow a duck call.

Why would Texas be a closed economy? Why do you grant California freedom to operate as it pleases but want to dictate and limit what other states can do? Probably because you are a "progressive" and want to ensure everyone else fails?

California wants to go, so let them. They're going bankrupt anyway and without government money, it will happen a lot sooner. Texas is not that stupid.

Half of all new American jobs since 2000 have been in Texas. We're leading the economy.

We're what America is supposed to be.
