    Not a liberal.

We should not shine light on dark sides of American history. The Confederacy was a dark side of American history that should not see the light. Leave it in history where it deserves to stay.

So you're saying it should be illegal to criticize the Confederacy?

That's the impression one gets from your posts. Whenever someone criticizes the Confederacy, you imply it's a free speech violation.

    Pay better attention
The issue at hand is the suggestion it should be illegal to posses or display items or imagery relating to the Confederacy.
Those that support this idea, such as the person I responded to, do not support free speech.

Then why have you made it into an issue about all liberals, who almost all disagree with the opinion of that one person?

If it's about one person, then you should be honest, and only criticize that one person. Instead, you and all the conservatives here are ranting about all liberals. That's classic bait-and-switch demonization, a standard fascist technique.

The issue I've made involves liberals that do not believe in free speech.
If that's not you, then jolly good; you'd be better off defending the right to free speech from said liberals than taking issue with me.

Maybe BLM should concentrate on something more important like, graduating HS with honors, or just even graduating.

If there was one. How about the one that flew over slavery in the United States and flew over those who fought to keep it in the United States?

Free speech includes the right of people you do not like to express opinions you do not like.
    Why do you disagree?

As a poster on this forum once said, "If David Duke praises your words, you have said something wrong."

Trump needs to separate himself from the white nationalists and supremacists, that ironically make up a core of his base. Then we can begin this "both sides" talk.

None of this changes the fact you agree with what Trump said, and you agree what he said was the truth.

Actually, I don't agree with Trump. Had he come out with the "both sides" statement at a later time, maybe, but the statement so closely following Charlottesville was only buying him time until he finally denounced David Duke.

Walking back your prior statements, eh?
    Not a surprise.

Nice only taking one part of my response, and twisting it. Typical.

Blame and humiliate the prime culprits, then deal with the larger issue of "both sides"

Since you're willing to walk away from your own statements whenever it suits you, there's no reason for me to take any of your statements seriously.

Of course America has never paid restitution for slavery, but at least she ended the institution of slavery of which the Confederacy wanted to keep. Slavery is not the argument, the problem with honoring these men is they are guilty of treason.
