If you post from a highly partisan POV, which side being irrelevant, you will most likely not be taken seriously. Even if your personal views are far left or right, try using a little tact when posing your argument. Doing so will attract people to you and possibly win people to your side. Good luck everyone, and have a great day!
This is utter bs. Sorry, but typing in a neutral, academic manner when it comes to ideological topics is nothing but pretentious megalomanism. I agree that facts should be in the focus if in the Science-section, but pooping out sources and taking a neutral stance on other issues is pointless and actually quite coward-ish. There is nothing I hate more than citation-poopers in subjective/philosophical questions. I would rather say that we need more subjectivity as that is what feeds good discussion and a healthy debate.
What would you prefer, a pain pill? How about a suboxone strip? How about a senior citizen with Alzheimer? Or a chemo or aids patient? I am an advocate for liberty, but also for helping people in general. I am dead serious about cannabis. It is not a joke. Scientific research is beginning to prove my point. The truth hurts, doesn't it. People don't take people with cannabis leaves as a symbol of them seriously. It's just a fact. Smoke what you want, but it just looks foolish to use that as a symbol of yourself. People don't take you seriously.
I wasn't the one pontificating about how to get people to take you seriously online. I don't really care if y'all take me seriously or not. Oh, and it's not a blue-claw crab, it's a blue crab.
I wasn't the one pontificating about how to get people to take you seriously online. I don't really care if y'all take me seriously or not. That, and stoners irritate me on general principles. I don't think marijuana is a bad thing--it's about like alcohol and tobacco, but for some reason people don't take their devotion to alcohol and tobacco quite as seriously as their devotion to cannabis.

Because I hate to see our country being so divided. We are all together here. Like in the Army, as you well know, it doesn't matter what political party you belong to. It doesn't matter what color you are or what state or even what country you are from. All that matters is that you and I are on the same team. We may have different opinions on how we accomplish our mission, but in the end we will fight side by side for our cause.
It is impossible to have a reasonable discussion when no one can agree on the facts. You know what's tearing this country apart even more than Trump? Social media.
I have an uncle who believes every word he hears on rw talk radio. It has ruined him as a person. He is beyond repair. And it is impossible to have any kind of discussion about politics. Every word that comes out of his mouth is hyper-partisan crap based on false claims. Hell, he still thinks Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. You can't have a reasonable discussion with someone like that.
Perhaps the reason cannabis advocates are so vocal is due to cannabis being illegal, despite being significantly less harmful that either alcohol or tobacco. I think you are derailing the thread though. It isn't about cannabis compared to alcohol or tobacco. It's about learning how to communicate in a way that fosters self-improvement.
In the Army, we tell people we like to go F themselves at the slightest disagreement. We're ALWAYS insulting each other in the Army. Deployments are even worse! The insults get dark as hell. Toughen up fella. Just words
Agreement of the facts is not the entire problem, though it is a problem. People allowing the extreme left or right to dictate the terms of the arguments is a big problem as well. Why aren't people in the middle saying to Antifa, the KKK, and neo-nazis that they are not representative of our norms and values? They are extremes, like snake handling Christians or terrorist Muslims. We need to dictate to them that they have no place in our civil discourse.
The mainstream right is extremist. They elected Trump. What more evidence do you need? It is no accident that Trump pardoned a cop who abused prisoners and abused his power without remorse. Now they are bringing out the extreme left. And they thought Nancy Pelosi was extreme!
