I'm not at all convinced that that's true. The Republican party has been pandering to -- and is therefore partially composed of -- racists since Nixon and Goldwater. The conservative outrage machine has been stirring up that real subtle kind of nationalism and racism for years, with its outrageous personalities, its half-truths and outright lies. And y'all just nominated and elected a POTUS who -- whatever else he is -- at the very least clearly and unapologetically panders to nazis and the alt-right crowd. Oh and let's not forget Bannon, who still plays for Trump's team.

These different Republican and alt-right individuals and groups may all simply be using each other to achieve their own ends, and you may see this as just the way the world works -- but by using each other, the alt-right and the Republican party absolutely have to do with each other.
