100 years after the founding of the country. Your idea of this being proof that our nation was founded on Christian values is erroneous but when did you ever cared about facts. The founding fathers never celebrated Christmas.

An economy can be bad without actually in the process of collapse. The recession took out trillions of dollars and businesses were greatly damaged and the Obamacare stimulus saved it from collapse but wasn't enough to make it growing healthy and Republicans stopped any attempts Obama made after that to do anything.

That tends to happen during bad economic times and Bush's economic numbers were not that pretty either. The problem with measuring real GDP is that population growth will of course make it rise so GDP per capita is better. But the problem with that is that high inequality will concentrate growth to the richest so median family income is a far better measure of how ordinary people are doing.

Stop playing games, that isn't adjusted for inflation. The 2.15% inflation rate means a 55 cent rise. Which means that wage growth hasn't been able to keep up with inflation. And does that measure include wages for the rich who tend to have much higher wage growth and distorts the average figure upward from what the average person is actually getting?

And under Obama it increased from 62.4 to 62.9 from 2014. Workforce participation used to be over 66 and these tiny changes simply aren't enough.

So what percent of all regulations has Donald Trump gotten rid of to produce this amazing growth? And you are going to have to subtract in all regulations added since he took office.

This next recession is going to be bad. The government is already going to run trillion plus deficits all by itself in the 2020s with increased interest rates on the debt, higher healthcare costs, and a more elderly population. On top of that Trump wants to add a trillion in infrastructure and trillions more in military spending and tax cuts mostly for the rich. And if a recession happens this is going to blow up the deficit even more. We might even see 2 trillion dollar deficits if this happens.

    Link for proof?

The father of our nation knew how to throw a Christmas party.

I’m talking thousands of pounds of bacon, gallons of homemade rye whiskey, a massive “great cake” and what he called an “attack of Christmas pies.” Everyone got four days off to celebrate at his Mount Vernon plantation and while there was no regular scheduled appearance by Santa, there was at least one recorded visit by a camel

As it is for many people today, Christmas[1] was for Jefferson a time for family and friends and for celebrations, or in Jefferson's word, "merriment." In 1762, he described Christmas as "the day of greatest mirth and jollity."1 Although no documents exist to tell us how, or if, Jefferson decorated his Monticello for the holidays, Jefferson noted the festive scene created by his grandchildren. On Christmas Day 1809, he said of eight-year-old grandson Francis Wayles Eppes (shown at right): "He is at this moment running about with his cousins bawling out 'a merry christmas' 'a christmas gift' Etc."[2]

During Jefferson’s time, holiday celebrations were much more modest than those we know today. Socializing and special food would have been the focal points of the winter celebrations rather than decorations or lavish gifts. The customs that we think of today as traditional ways of celebrating Christmas, particularly the decorating of evergreen trees and the hanging of stockings, derived from a variety of national traditions and evolved through the course of the 19th century, only becoming widespread in the 1890s.[3]

References indicate that at Monticello, as throughout Virginia, mince pie — filled with apples, raisins, beef suet, and spices — was a traditional holiday dinner favorite. Jefferson wrote to Mary Walker Lewis on December 25, 1813: "I will take the liberty of sending for some barrels of apples, and if a basket of them can now be sent by the bearer they will be acceptable as accomodated to the season of mince pies." Music also filled the scene. The Monticello music library included the Christmas favorite "Adeste Fideles."[4]

For African-Americans at Monticello, the holiday season represented a time between - a few days when the winter work halted and mirth became the order of the day. The Christmas season came to represent hours when families reunited through visits and when normal routines were set aside. In 1808, Davy Hern traveled all the way to Washington where his wife Fanny worked at the President’s House to be with her for the holidays. Two days before the Christmas of 1813, Bedford Davy, Bartlet, Nace, and Eve set out for Poplar Forest to visit relatives and friends.

During the holidays, women adorned tables with wild game. Freshly slaughtered meats supplemented the usual rations of pork and cornmeal. Gills of molasses sweetened holiday fare and music lifted spirits not fatigued by a harvest but by another full cycle of work in the fields, shops, and living quarters of Monticello.

The First Whitehouse Christmas with John & Abigail Adams

“When the second President of the United States, John Adams, and his wife Abigail, moved into what would come to be known as the White House [in November 1800], the residence was cold, damp, and drafty. Sitting at the edge of a dreary swamp, the First Family had to keep 13 fireplaces lit in an effort to stay comfortable. It is in this setting that the cantankerous president held the first ever White House Christmas party in honor of his granddaughter, Susanna. It could be said that the invitations sent for this party were the very first White House Christmas cards, though in those early days, the building was referred to as the President’s Palace, Presidential Mansion, or President’s House.

The affair was planned in large part by the vivacious First Lady, Abigail Adams, and was considered a great success. A small orchestra played festive music in a grand ballroom adorned with seasonal flora. After dinner, cakes and punch were served while the staff and guests caroled and played games. The most amusing incident of the evening occurred when one of the young guests accidentally broke one of the First Granddaughter’s new doll dishes. Enraged, the young guest of honor promptly bit the nose off of one of the offending friend’s dolls. The amused president had to intervene to make sure the incident didn’t take an uglier turn.”

Following the Adams’ first Christmas in the White House, they held the first presidential levee on New Year’s Day.

The 7th Day of Christmas: Madison on “the most noble of all ambitions” which a government can have, of promoting peace on earth (1816)

From: The Writings, vol. 8 (1808-1819) (James Madison)

    By: James Madison

    Theme: War & Peace

    See this quote in context.

In an address to the Senate and House of Representatives as his second term as President was drawing to a close, James Madison (1751-1836) summed up the achievements of the U.S. in the 40 years of its existence. One of the things he was most proud of was that he had led “a Government which avoids intrusions on the internal repose of other nations”:

    Some, for sure.

BUT, MORE people probably take "The Cat in the Hat" seriously.

No, but I am certain that more people take "The Cat in the Hat" more seriously than take what you say seriously.

Again, a ranting Democrat demonstrates why no Christian should even consider being a Democrat and should vote straight Republican in every election for every office as a matter of self survival as if their very lives and that and their family depend on Democrats never gaining power.

To understand just how rabidly and sneering bigoted and hateful the Democratic Party and many Democrats are towards American Christians would only take a few days of participation on this forum.

History has taught that if they gain power, atheist tyrants will engage in mass murder genocide against Christians - and it seems clear that the many partisan Democrats are atheists.

Wow. You guys really hate Christians. Good thing there isn't a war against them going on. Why don't you keep on telling us that. Here comes the trigger -- God wait for it, wait for it, AHHHHH Theocracy You can't force us to believe in tolerance, love, and forgiveness. Screw the family and raise my taxes.

who hates Christians, sounds like some Christians want to make a war against the infidels that do not believe like them, not the other way around

you can celebrate Christmas how you want, others can celebrate Christmas the way they want - don't get angry cause others do not celebrate Christmas in a religious way, this is America, they do not have too

and no reason to get upset cause someone wishes your holidays be happy with a happy holidays, especially a cashier that has no clue what your beliefs are and is just being polite and using a generic term that they can use for everyone

It's more about beating the other side for you than anything substantive. You admit you don't like Trump the man; and since he's accomplished nothing that he run on it can't be that you approve of his record, than that only leaves his culture warrior opinion trolling on issues like "the war on Christmas" and the NFL kneeling controversy.

He's a snake-oil salesman and always has been. And apparently you like the sales pitch and are willing to look past that the product he's selling is not actually real... all because it antagonizes people you don't agree with politically.

    educate yourself.

    http://theweek.com/articles/479313/when-americans-banned-christmas

Note how you slithered away with your "In God We Trust" nonsense and now you start with this. You took a few examples of who "celebrated" Christmas to prove that it's a national tradition when it is not. We were never a "Christian" country and never will be no matter how loudly you and yours, and Trump scream at the top of your lungs.
