Obama bailed out GM. It was his way of protecting the union and gaining government control of an auto company. It was as close to full on socialism as he could get in this capitalist country.
Obama did far more than bail out GM though. He bailed out the UAW and threw non union workers under the bus. He passed out 50 billion tax payer dollars half of which is still outstanding and in return received huge donations from that same union.

"Where did that money go? Mainly, it went to paying off debts owed by GM and Chrysler, and – in an historic distortion of our bankruptcy proceedings – to securing the pensions and livelihoods of UAW workers. It turns out the real debt was that of Mr. Obama to organized labor, which had ponied up some $400 million to help him defeat John McCain".
"The Obama administration strong-armed the auto companies’ creditors into accepting undeniably unfair terms – terms that saw pensions obliterated for non-union workers but saved for those carrying a UAW card. Terms that saw non-UAW shops close but UAW factories stay open. Terms that doled out ownership in GM with political favoritism as a guiding principle."

No. He is not representing 'the' people. He's representing small minded far RW people. About 30% or less of the population.

Things began to change decades ago, when the Republican party began to organize under one purpose: to fuse the different forms of conservatism, and to promote the new monolithic ideology at any cost. That's when Republican elites began to bankroll think tanks like ALEC and the Heritage Foundation, to network Faux News with other branches of the conservative outrage machine, and to coordinate politics and policies. The Tea Party didn't spring full-fledged from some benevolent conservatism -- it is the overtly toxic and most obvious source of Trumpism, but conservatism has been corrupted and corrupting of politics, of the public, and of the private sector for a long while now.

Maybe what conservatism 'actually is' was an honest ideology at some point way back. But if so, that was before my time, and has long since lost relevance thanks to the traitors who have twisted conservatism into the all-consuming dogma it is today. Whatever his rabid supporters and his reluctant voters would like to think, there is a reason that Trump was nominated as and then ran as a Republican candidate -- and his infamy will be tied to that party for all time.

I know all that. My point is that it began under Bush and Paulson. Rationalize it any way you need to, but it began under Bush.

The GM deal was entirely an obama entity.

What % of the eligible voters, voted?
What % of the votes of the voters who did vote did he get?
And I said population, which covers ineligible voters as well.
But assume he got 50% of 50% eligible voters. Meaning basically 25% of the eligible voters, voted for trump.

But if you actually read what I posted. I said he's only representing 30% or less of the population. Those out in far right land.

    Really?
A lot of ordinary people (voters) in Louisiana who are struggling to get by will be asking questions.

"About $165 million of the Saints' $1.5 billion value can be attributed to public funding, tax breaks and incentives given to Saints owner Tom Benson each year"
