CBS earnings to disappoint due to weak NFL ratings, Credit Suisse says

I'm surprised this went under the radar.

The NFL is losing ratings and CBS is losing cash. While it's amazing that these large organizations allow themselves to be bullied due to their political correctness, I really believe they're gambling that the stupid and disrespectful protests don't last much longer.

On a side note, do these people realize that all it will take is some sort of comment from Trump that will piss off the players which might prolong and broaden the protests and the NFL, CBS and Fox are hosed? You could almost say Trump owns them until this blows over.

I really am waiting for a prominent conservative to set the stage, and tell his fellow conservatives to stop being so sensitive about this issue, and that they’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

If you let little thing upset you, you are the one responsible for letting the fun getting sucked out of anything. I am loving the football season. Christmas, IMO, has been commercially overrated for 30 yrs, so I don't get real excited about it. I do love getting together with family though.
And halloween is for kids anyways.

 

The NFL was a dying brand before this. The American public has had enough of rigged games, and how one sided the entire thing has become.

I guess where we differ is that I don't consider disrespecting the flag and anthem a "little thing" and neither do a lot of other Americans of all races, sexes and religions that have fought and died for it. I feel sorry for liberals , all they have is hate and self loathing

I don't like flag burning.
But, I also know those who fight and die for our freedoms, do so, so all people can have their voice. With those I agree with and those I don't.

And if I enjoy something, I'm not gonna let a little thing like minor protests change it. And yes, 5-10 people kneeling because they feel a certain minority group has been short changed, it isn't a big deal.

You know, it went from Kaepernick sitting to kneeling, out of respect for a soldier who contacted him about sitting last year.
The compromise between Kaep and the soldier was kneeling. Since soldiers will kneel over a fallen soldier as a sign of respect.

Funny how every time Trump makes some claim, his devotees feel compelled to fight to prove and support it. If Dear Leader Trump claims that a given news outlet is fake or failing, they'll spread that claim like gospel and try to convince everyone else of it on a venue such as this. If Trump attacks the NFL, they'll take up the fight also.

Bunch o' dunderheads. Apparently they will never understand how destructive they are to America, the country they claim to love, by continually attacking their fellow Americans like this and furthering artificial divisions in our society that only harm our national strength and unity. They will tear our country apart in their misguided devotion to their lying, cussing, crass idol who plays them like the fools they are using empty words and meaningless gestures.

 

It was facing problems before Kap, NOW it's dying. Kneelgate was simply the straw that broke the camels back IMHO. I've said this elsewhere, you piss off the fans you have one too many times, they're not coming back - ever. Right now the only close equivalent I can think of is WCW Wrasslin' which slapped it's fans so hard for so long, there was no way it could ever bounce back - among other reasons why it folded.

Your last two words are likely the death knell for the NFL. Those fans who have abandoned the game are finding new things to become emotionally and financially invested in, and they may never come back even if the NFL Imperial Poobahs start having the players personally wave the flag and hire women draped in red, white, and blue bikinis dancing to patriotic music before, during, and after the games such as has not been seen since Busby Berkeley musicals. The fans who left are likely saying the same thing as you just did: Who cares?

I'm baffled that the NFL isn't taking this seriously. You'd think they'd want to fight for every last fan they had. If management had half a brain between the lot of them, they would.

Is it still making money? Yes. Is it making more money than I am? Oh yes. But is that money stream trending downward? Most definitely yes. And have they hit rock bottom yet? I kind of suspect not for a long time, and when it does, there's no going back. They may have passed the point of no return already.

You can't piss off your fan base and not eventually lose it all.
