Of course it is, they can't prove there is no God any more than Religion can "prove" there is. That means their belief is based on faith.

Yes, it is closer to nihilism - a philosophy closer to the subject of this thread.

That's my question. The one chance for us all to "unify" so to speak to celebrate this monster's death...oh well.

A religion is more than a simple belief.

I believe my car is still out in the driveway. Is that a religion?

If you want it to be. But a real religion is a belief system that folks can rationalize like atheism. There's a reason atheists fight so hard NOT to be called a religion, because if they were then they would lose their foothold in public schools. Then they would have to abide bu the same rules they forced on other religions.

Today Charlie Manson got another 15 seconds of fame (ala Andy Worhole) as his death was announced and his crimes recounted.

    Now he is gone.

He lived 5/8ths of his live on prison food within the confines of prison walls.

    It was a wasted life.

It's what he wanted. I'm sure the meeting at the gates of hell was an uncomfortable one when Satan said Charles....welcome we have reserved a special place for you.

You should know whether or not your car is in the driveway.

It has been said that those who do not believe in God will believe in anything, and that seems to be so. Manson's followers certainly had their beliefs, unsupported by any substantial evidence.

Those who believe in the philosophies of Jesus Christ are more to be trusted than those of the Manson family but some, like the adviser to the last US President, thought them to be cool.

His hell was being trapped in his mind behind bars. Death has freed him of his suffering. The reason I say this is that there is no solid proof that Hell exists.

Can't see love either. So how does someone love another? Or claim they love another?
I don't believe that for one second. Because if I did, then the God I believe in is not what I am supposed to believe in.

A crazy person is crazy because their brain is fried. Either from chemicals, or from birth. Wires not all crossed. Did they want to be crazy? Or did they get that way from being beaten, tortured, abused when a baby and toddler? They didn't ask to be beaten, tortured or abused, so they turned into a monster. Now, does God punish someone for becoming a monster? I think not. Do I think that monster, once dead, goes to a place called hell? No. I believe they are forbidden the presence of God. Dead means dead. No after life. No eternal suffering. What kind of God would make his creation suffer forever? Would that not make God imperfect Himself? Yes. Therefore...Manson is not being burned in a some dumb lake of fire for all eternity. He is just...absent. Dead. No afterlife. Just...dead. No being with God in any way, shape or form. Absent from His presence.

Just my opinion. Your own belief mileages may vary.

BTW..I am FOR the death penalty. You know..kill them and let God sort it out.

That's a hilarious picture since some posters have claimed that Michelle is a man. Does Bush know? He looks so happy and comfortable.

It seems that Manson was an optimist because he thought that he would get out of prison. Therefore he was willing to put up with the inconvenience of being locked up instead of killing himself or a guard or two.

    It's just the belief a deity doesn't exist. Me? I'm a nonbeliever.

Chances are you believe in something that's not demonstrable - such as successful socialism or life on other planets.

Obama's beliefs are changing over the years and he has yet too achieve any wisdom. Your own beliefs may change as well, depending on your experiences.

I feel quite sure that those involved in public education have their beliefs, and are not reluctant to share them with their students.

Why do believers try so hard to make non believers believe?
Why do non believers try so hard to make believers non believers?
And why do both sides have to be rude when doing it?

Someone likely mentioned Hell, which encouraged atheists to share their opinions on the subject.

Because some people are their opinions and to question their opinions is to insult who they are as human beings. At least that's my opinion.
