I figure it has to do with a speech he gave a few months ago. He was asked when America was great, and he replied "“I think it was great at the time when families were united. Even though we had slavery, they cared for one another. ... Our families were strong, our country had a direction,” In other words, the lefty blinders ignore the point he was making about families, and zeroed in on slavery.
