The following is a history of MSNBC from 1996 to 2007. MSNBC is an American basic cable and satellite news television channel that was created in 1996 by Microsoft and General Electric's NBC unit, which is now the Comcast-owned NBCUniversal.

Microsoft invested $220 million for a 50% share of the cable network, while MSNBC and Microsoft would share the cost of a $200 million newsroom in Redmond, Washington for msnbc.com. NBC supplied the channel space that was occupied by the 18-month-old America's Talking network. Its name is a combination of "MSN" and "NBC". MSNBC (along with Fox News) was created as an alternative to CNN.

The following are highlights from the network's first 11 years; its history from 2008–2015 is separately covered.

Let me change the phrasing to make it factual.

1. We low paying tax payers got benefits. We got larger personal deductions or credits. The poor women gain, not lose. Nothing gained by me or the rest of them went to the rich. It flowed to us.
2. By not stealing more from the rich, apparently angers you and you claim the rich got more. This is not the case. Factually by the rich doing better, they wind up paying more and more income taxes. The government accepts a lot more cash from them, not less.
3. Small improvements in the economy will wipe out that small debt projected not for one year, but 10 years. Such projections are proven not true in almost all cases.

4. Who projected in 2008 that Obama would crank up deficits to the point he ran it up from 10 trillion dollars to 20 trillion dollars.

Many of us are flipped out how reckless he was. what kept kept him from hitting a lot more was our republicans came up with the sequester or Obama may have hit 25 trillion in deficit losses.
