Former Cleveland mayor and U.S. member of Congress Dennis Kucinich is running for Ohio governor, joining an already crowded field in the Democratic primary.

Kucinich filed paperwork with the Ohio Secretary of State on Monday to declare his candidacy and name a campaign treasurer.

Kucinich joins Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, former U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton of the Akron area, state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Boardman, Ohio Supreme Court Justice Bill O’Neill, former state Rep. Connie Pillich of Cincinnati and former Attorney General Richard Cordray in the Democratic primary.

Candidates must pick their running mates and file petitions signed by 1,000 Ohio voters by Feb. 7......snip~

If he wins against the incumbent Kasich, there will be possibility of Ohio becoming more blue.

John Kasich's approval rating is 57%. In a swing state in today's day and age there is very little chance he will be beaten.

Yeah and not to mention Kasich won like 82 out of 88 counties or something like that. Has a good percentage of blacks and Latino voters voting for him too.

    Kasich is term-limited

    He can't run in 2018.

    Yeah.

The same GOP Voters who voted Trump will probably "Vote Kasich".

Sounds like a plan, since Kasich is term-limited and won't be on the ballot.

good point, just looked that up. Obviously gives Kucinich a better chance. I wonder who the republicans will run and if Kasich will support them.

Repubs had a slight advantage until Kucinich jumped in. Still might have one with Mary Taylor.

The Republican candidates are DeWine, Husted, Congressman Jim Renacci and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor.
The Democratic field includes former state Rep. Connie Pillich, Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni, former Congresswoman Betty Sutton and Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley. With no clear frontrunner in either party, each candidate has at least a conceivable chance of victory.

And the line could still be growing, particularly on the Democratic side, which lacks a real name-brand contender. Rumors continue to circulate that Richard Cordray, the former Ohio treasurer and attorney general, will leave the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and make a late entry into the race. Former state Sen. Nina Turner, who lost to Husted in 2014, would add racial diversity to an all-white field. Dennis Kucinich, the former congressman and Cleveland mayor, is said to be considering a comeback. And some Democrats are eager to run their own Donald Trump—trash TV show host Jerry Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor who lives in Florida but could always move back home if his arm was twisted into re-entering the political arena.

Curtin, Ohio’s unofficial political historian, saw something new and something old in the 2016 election results. By choosing Trump, a disaffected electorate expressed in an unprecedented way its disgust with conventional government and American institutions. But Ohio voters were also doing something they’ve done quite often since the state’s inception—voting Republican. “Ohio’s a Republican state,” Curtin says. “We’ve always been a Republican state.”.....snip~

    Keep up the good work.

    Carry on. :salute:
