No Obama and Trump did not create any economy they are not capable of that.

    Presidents are not Almighty lords.

This individual worship people seem to have regarding a figurehead or an executive is puzzling to me.

No, Obama never saw to it that blacks had the lowest unemployment in history. Obama never saw the DOW past 19K. Obama never lowered taxes. Obama left office a year ago. Maybe if the economy was f*cked up right now and I knew you'd give credit to Obama for that then you'd be taken more serious. You're just being a partisan and for that, you're not to be taken serious.

This is all because of Trump. Sorry dude.

Obama's overall GDP growth rate was 2%.

That's on par with Bush41 and better than Bush43.

The problem with coal is that investors in building a coal power plant must be confident that it will pay off in 20 years.

The economics of existing plants is different. They can continue running without requiring new investment.

Right now, there are a lot of coal power plants that are aging out.

    And, they aren't being replaced.

Coal is declining, and for good reasons, both environmental and economic.

Trump's many repeated promises to re energize coal for all those workers he pretends to care about were just plain ridiculous. Even China is working hard to get off of coal. The only real question? Was Trump just ignorant or was he lying?

Probably just gross ignorance. Trump probably didn't know that most of our coal fired power plants date back to 1980 and that a lifespan is about 40 years.. He probably never considered investors at all since he frequently cheated his.

27 coal-fired plants announced closure or conversion in 2017. https://numerical.co.in/numerons/collection/58d048864e976264035a1e35

So, it seems like you're not completely correct.

So we will have a crisis. What is going to fill that gap? We aren't building nuclear power, most of our electricity is generated by natural gas.

It is not declining for environmental reasons most electricity is created by natural gas.

It sounds like a good idea to energize coal. He may not be capable but he is just one man.

China generates 80% of their electricity by coal. It would be profoundly stupid for them to get off of coal.

Those are the only choices I have huh? I think it's a false cause. I think Trump is trying. Even if he does he still might fail.

Coal is being displaced by growth in gas plus some oil and a little wind. I don't know what "crisis" you're talking about. Energy is a realm which is open to free market capitalism. Suggesting that will fail isn't actually believable.

No, coal is declining for economic reasons. Coal can't compete with gas.

I have no idea why you would think it is a good idea for the federal government to use their power to try to make coal beat out gas. What justification do you have for that?

China is working hard to get off of coal. So, you'll have to explain to me how China is stupid. Today, China holds and creates the most patents on renewable energy and delivers more clean energy technology than any other nation. It's a huge industry there - an industry the oil besotted USA ignores.

Trump isn't doing anything that has any chance of changing coal futures. In fact, he's benefitting big oil and gas - which will kill coal all the faster!

Bush43 was lower. Plus, Republicans in congress prevented Obama from doing what was necessary for an even faster recovery.

Beyond that, the Bush recession was a point that stimulated the move to automation and austerity in employment. US productivity returned to pre-crash levels in very short order. But, those companies didn't hire those they had fired, leaving unemployment numbers high even when corporations were booming.

With millions having lost their homes, their retirements, their jobs to Bush43 economics, and with corporations no longer hiring as they once did, the supply side efforts of congress did as little as Obama said they would.

Even so, Obama did better than Bush43.

No kidding.. They threw out the 25% of net income rule for mortgages and sold a lot of housing to people who couldn't afford it... so they crashed.. And of course there was Bush's ENRON buddies, war on Afghanistan to save the over-leveraged Dabhol project. It was 8 years of blunders to include our adventure in Iraq..
