I get why they are turning on Trump, but damn, why did they fall for his crap in the first place.. Coal miners are not stupid. They know their industry.. Why didn't they shout the bastard down 18 months ago?

They are being replaced, by natural-gas fired plants.

I agree it is largely being replaced by natural gas but in order for when's to replace it when generation of energy has to increase by 500% and of course this means there will be very few jobs in our economy being that we don't produce wind turbine generators.

if 30% of our energy production is not there anymore we will be 30% short on demands.

it isn't a realm the free market capitalism there is a lot of government interference.

currently Natural Gas equates to 34% of energy production and coal is a very close second place entity represents 30% Cole is the stiffest competition that natural gas has so no there's nothing else competing.

well that's not what I think you're terrible at reading thoughts so I'm not going to justify your straw man.

80% of their energy is produced by coal it's stupid because it's a Greenie weenie pipe dream or it's going to leave a huge deficit in their demand for energy

yet 80% of their energy is produced by burning coal.

as long as there are nitwit Europeans willing to buy that snake oil there's someone that's going to be making it. Selling morality or taking a crappy product on to morality is brilliant marketing and yes that always leads to a huge industry.

Perhaps America doesn't buy it because it's expensive and inefficient in order for wind just wind energy to meet the demands of just call not nuclear not natural gas just call we would have to increase production 500%. That means 500% more land 500% more windmills. Wind is the dominant Force in Renewables.

It is profoundly expensive and the only way it ever gets anywhere in the market was through government Fiat so it can't compete in a environment that does not make exceptions for it.

I have no real issue if petroleum and natural gas push coal out of the industry but petroleum and natural gas are not wind.

Bush43 dumped us into the worst recession in decades. Our economy was trashed while the wealth of tens of millions of Americans was torched or looted. Millions lost their jobs and were not hired back as a result of the rapid recovery in manufacturing production (but not employment).

And, then you propose that BUSH is a growth winner!

Hudson should be proud of their creativity in trying to sell that story.

But, it's still simply ridiculous to buy it.

They have a long way to go.

What we should be focusing on is nuclear.

You misinterpreted what I said entirely.

You're suggesting that Bush did better than Obama by dumping our economy into a gigantic recession.

Sorry. that just beggars reality. (Not a misspelling - lol!)

So, I see a few root problems here.

First, you're fixated on the energy sources of today, not on the trends.

You don't believe in free market capitalism. Somehow, you think that investment is static as of today (or ten years ago, or whatever) - that is, corporations will ignore demand, letting it go unfilled. I don't have a clue why you would think that.

You doubt China, but they are doing exactly what they said they would do and they are making serious profit doing it.

    The trend is natural gas.

I don't have a clue why it that I was thinking that. If get my money back on your crystal ball.

Loads of profit in snake oil. I don't doubt that.

Chinese corporations are installing a soccer field's area of solar panels per HOUR.

Their intent is to own renewable energy for the world.

They have already passed us in percent of their energy coming from clean energy sources.

We like to focus on the fact that China is still building coal plants. But, the end of that is very near and their focus on clean energy can not even slightly be doubted.

We have more workers in clean energy than in coal. China has ten times as many workers in clean energy as we do. They have more patents in clean energy than any other country are are producing them faster. They lead the world in clean energy technology production.

Doubting their commitment is just plain ridiculous.

Snake oil is a great business.

Yep as long as people believe in the snake oil they'll buy it. Again its a brilliant business model

    Aww are you jelly?

I don't doubt they focus on snake oil. Appearing to believe in it sells it better.

One of the reasons why it's expensive. You have more people producing less energy, far less energy.

So it's less economic there as well.
Marketing philosophy with over priced energy is a brilliant business model. I don't know why you keep making this point.

I believe that snake oil is a fantastic business idea.

Yet 80% of their energy is produced by coal... Thats more than all of the energy produced I the United states by all fossil fuels combined. A lot more.

That ought to tell you something.

Oh I completely agree. If you don't completely sell the idea of snake oil than nobody will buy it.

As another poster asked more generally, but without linking you, are you legitimately trying to imply that solar energy is fake?
