The mean wages for Postal Workers are $50,610. It's comical that folks that are typically skilled enough to bag groceries or stock shelves at the local supermarket for minimum wage can make $50,610 + pension + health benefits delivering letters to mailboxes and still do this? I'm sure there are millions of people that would be thrilled to make $50,610 + pension + health benefits delivering letters to mailboxes. The man breached the public trust in the postal system and caused undo harm on a very lot of people. I think they need to throw him in jail for the full 5 years, then all 3 years of supervised probation and take the $250,000 fine out of his pension fund.

Time to turn over mail delivery to UPS, FedEx and other private firms.

They would end up exactly like the postal service, convergent evolution-style.

USPS ain't like it once was -- done with your route by 10:30 and work a second job. The routes are taxing, and make a long day.

They do need to get rid of the union, however, so guys like that get gone quick. It is a very difficult for USPS supervisors to discipline employees and damn near impossible to fire a bad egg -- a lot slides because the paperwork gauntlet required by the union to discipline workers is a formidable barrier to a good workplace.

Won't that raise the rates for rural areas? I am assuming it will cost a lot more to provide mail delivery for sparse, lower population rural areas than high density, compact urban centers. That will impact the areas that Trump supporters live adversely.

USPS is a good deal for the consumer. Get rid of the union, problem solved.

When I pay USPS my money it is one federal agency that actually does something for me.

Do you think he’s still there?

Do they have rubber rooms for postal workers like they have for public school teachers?

    Thats an outrage

Of course. For less than 50 cents you can send a letter to rural Alaska or Hawaii. If we privatize mail delivery I think they would charge rates more in line with the actual cost of the service.

Happens to me too. Usually its my neighbors on either side of me. One time it was around the block. Not even close to being the same address. So I put it back in my mail box. It sat there for 3 day and 3 deliverers. She saw that the mall was in there. I finally told her that she was going to delivery it or I was going to put it in the trash. It was delivered the next the day.

Fail. In reality, in both business and personal mail services I have experienced plenty of screwup from all of the mail and package services. Right now I am waiting for a refund of a package that took 3 weeks to go 300 miles from UPS, a shipment that cost $24 from UPS and would have cost $5 first class or $8.50 for 2 Day.

After over 100 years, that having powerhouse of the massive profits from America from having a reliable and relatively inexpensive nearly universal mail delivery and electrical power is still not accepted by these No-Nothings is a incredible testament of the denial by our clueless Trumpies and false Conservatives.

I say that if I’m getting other proples mail then some of mine is getting lost too

I complained so much that the post office flagged my address with big red cards telling the carrier to be extra careful

The card also instructed the carrier not to deliver the card itself

but the dumb asses put that in my mailbox anyway

We just hand carry the mail over to the neighbor and chew the fat over coffee or Wild Turkey depending on the time of day. One time it was a mile away, but the guy had beer and I fixed his lawn mower in five minutes.

WOW!!!!. I used to get SSI checks. The mail carrier who used to delivery it, would put it in the next door neighbor box. Thank God that my neighbor was a retired cop other wise I would be out that 600. I used to think that everyone was smart. But growing up in to adulthood.... 2+2 dosn't always equal 4 for them.

That's kickass. Beats the traditional way to go postal, after all. Sucks for a lot of people, but what's done is done. The important factor is how it puts fingers on the pulse of just how inhuman work under late capitalism is, that it drives people to engage in such pointless destruction. I want to encourage people to fixate on that pointless destruction, because I believe that a lot of answers can be gleaned from it.

    Not me

I mark each envelope “DELIVERED TO WRONG ADDRESS” and hand it to the post master personally

    who knows me by sight

Instead of blaming the Post Office for treating employees decently, why don't you demand more of the private sector? Serfin' USA.

Soviet Russia was virtually indistinguishable from a sufficiently poor social democratic capitalist state. It had commodity production, wage labour, and the law of value, all hallmarks of capitalism. Whether or not you want to call it Capitalism, it's close enough that I'll condemn them based on the same criteria. A more dramatic departure is needed. The difference was that the capitalism of the USSR did not have the tendency of Western Capitalism to try to embrace absolutely everything, to try to assimilate all enemies.

Average salary for mail delivery people seems to be $15.80. That amounts to about $33,500 per year, not an exorbitant salary.

Of course, we all realize that the aim of this thread is to demonize ALL postal workers and, in extension, the whole government, by showcasing the criminal behavior of ONE worker. The 10s of thousands of mail delivery workers who work hard and deliver your mail everyday without problems, for a fair salary, probably disagree.

No private company can lose billions of dollars a year and remain in business. Yet the USPS does.

Care to make sense of that?
