David Frum is as right wing as it gets and I do mean in the normal sense of right wing...not the radical lunatic crazies that have hijacked the party and enabled the monstrosity in The Oval Office. The article nails it very concisely.

Good article and worth the read in its entirety.

David Frum? Lol. Total neocon, major perpetrator of the war in Irak. These are the guys we want OUT.

That guy should be in jail with Hillary. They're on the same side, shilling for war with Russia because Russia doesn't follow Israel's interests.

Oh yeah.... Remember? The Republican Party is no longer the Conservative right-wing party it used to be. Now it's just the Party of Racists.

Republicans: These uneducated dopes took over your party! And if you haven't realized this yet, you're the fools!

If someone does not recognize or acknowledge what happened to the party, clearly they are part of the problem. A current day republican that identifies with Trump and his base actually hate democracy and want to see the grand experiment come crashing down. Some are not even really American anyway.

Why is it always a certain kind of ***conservative*** trying to divide Republicans? What's their agenda?

I have "some" hope for them. But they have a long way to go. First they need to realize that they lost their Party. Then they'll need to understand that they were manipulated. And then they need to understand that, if they want their party back, they'll have to fight tooth and nail. And I'm not sure if the last stage is not the realization that it's too late.

It's a factually empty, mouthy series of bureaucratic Complex talking points, one long hollow whine. What's ironic is that this guy and so many others preach all these "Trump wrongs" from an entrenched bureaucratic, chattering class perspective nearly opposite to the perspective of the average, private sector American voter, certainly fiscally opposed... who hired Trump specifically FOR HIS EXPERTISE in doing the very things they whine on endlessly about despite possessing no measurable expertise themselves. Just another example of the complete self-absorption of entrenched bureaucrats and chatterers.

Mr. Frum, we don't need a career journalist who has never practiced business or even used his law degree in practice to tell us about how to run -any- organization or what perils await any who dare to prune our hideously bloated central bureaucracies. Mr. Trump has mountains and eons more organizational and operational wisdom in wading through and streamlining multi-leveled bureaucracies and their processes than folks like you have or will ever have. We'd get along... just FINE... without the hyperbolic, self-serving "headless giant" metaphors also.

On an even more snotty note, I found the writing bad, e.g. the "government -agglomerates- giant bureaucracies?" great word, poor usage, needlessly stilted to boot, and "-riven- by generations of mistrust?" No. "Fractured?" "hampered?" "hobbled?" "factionalized?"

Maybe what we need, Mr. Frum, is a streamlined, far less central government that is subject to the exact same technological forces that have obviated need for so many of the layers of private sector enterprises, that doesn't require so much "agglomeration," and institutions within it that do the few enumerated jobs we need them to do. When they get "riven by" generations of mistrust, the efficiency consultants and hatchet men, not the agglomerators, are enlisted to solve the problem. We've done things your way for a century, and are most unhappy with the results. Time for a new approach.

Republicans are color blind. Democrats think blacks are genetically inferior and incapable of thinking for themselves.

David Frum is definitely right wing....and he definitely thinks Trump is a disaster as president and is bad for business, so to speak. This is one of those few times I totally agree with him........

You won't hear liberals say much of anything on wingnut media other than what they can take out of context for convenience. Which severely limits your perception of reality. This gives those of us who listen to both sides the argumentative advantage..

This is so typical of a Trump Presidency.

On his first year anniversary, his government is shut down. There will be a celebration at Mar-a-Lago, but Trump will not be attending because of the shutdown.

Senators are at each others' throats, and there is gridlock in the Senate. Compromise is a nasty word.

Trump is the least popular first year President in the history of the United States. His popularity abroad is even worse.

With countless statements that began while he was a candidate, Trump has proven himself to be a racist President. Many of his followers are also racist. This has created extremely deep divisions within our country.

More and more it is beginning to look like Trump was involved in money laundry schemes that included Russians. If so, Putin knows about it, and he is extorting Trump. Allegedly, this is why Trump was forced to collaborate with the Russians during the election. If our President is being extorted, that is an extremely serious national security threat.

With two indictments of Trump's close associates and two others -- one his former NSA -- cooperating with prosecutors, Mueller is closing in on Trump and it appears Mueller will be questioning him.

Foreign leaders, including May, Macron, Merkel, Kim, Xi, and Putin have virtually no respect for him and regard him as a buffoon. Trump encourages the view with moronic, bellicose, and often contradictory tweets.

No one in his right mind considers Trump a diplomat. His language is crude, often vulgar, and frequently consists of falsehoods. Consequently, his foreign policy is in shambles. Truth be told, he has no foreign policy. He lacks the experience for a consistent foreign policy.

He claims to have turned the armed forces over to his generals. That is simply a pathetic excuse for his complete lack of military experience. In truth, he has turned civilian control of the military over to General Jim Mattis, his SecDef, General H.R. McMasters, his NSA, General John Kelly, his chief of staff, and Rex Tillerson, his SecState. The U.S. Constitution requires civilian control of the armed forces.

The one plus Trump had as a candidate, perhaps the only plus, was, supposedly, his talent for making deals. He has not made one trade deal. Catastrophically, he pulled the U.S. out of the TPP, turning dominance of Asian trade over to China. He has threatened to withdraw from NAFTA, a lucrative trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Withdrawal from NAFTA would severely affect several segments of our economy and would cause a huge jump in consumer prices.

That's our President. You either love or hate him. There is no in-between.
