Thanks for correcting your error in your response to my comment. The problem Trump has is that he encourages this type of flaimbating. So do not be surprised if people respond in kind, at first many thought it was kind of fun having Trump as president, but after a year his endless derogatory remarks, his constant lies are getting a bit wearing with some non Americans. As I wrote, you have a right to have anyone you want to be the face of america but don't get your feelings hurt because they respond with anti american attitudes.

Having said that, my guess is that your FB post reached/exceeded the threshold for number of reports, and that's why the FB bots reacted as they did.

You could have said "G-d bless Norway!" or "Norway is the best!," and if you'd been reported an equal number of times, same result, no human directly involved.

But free speech must be protected in the New Public Square.

 

Lots of people reply to news stories on their feed out of defense for Trump. What I've gathered is the users who defend Trump most on Facebook either have fake profiles, or are in general, white men more than women or black users. I do wish, in these political threads on Facebook, Facebook would disable emojis for political posts (you know, like the "Haha" emoji that gets used the most on ABC or CBS' reporting). It shows me when users use those to respond they aren't taking the material seriously, so why even take the comments seriously?

Haiti is not a shithole. It is the same as saying if Somalia was a shithole, or Nepal was a shithole. These countries are not as developed as us, let alone have the resources. Haiti was becoming a great community until the earthquakes that hit the island. So, there really is not a factor where Trump's labeling of Haiti as a shithole can be verified. If Haiti were as industrialized as the US, that would be one thing. But they're not. So Trump is still wrong from a factual basis. America needs to continue to aid Haiti in recovering from an historic and devastating earthquake. In time, Haiti will upgrade its status but chastising the country isn't going to help its cause.

As for that woman from Norway goes, Norway's state of living is much better than that of the US. They are ranked a happier country than the US, their colleges do not bankrupt their students like they do here, the perks of this Scandinavian country really do circles around the US. In comparison to what we offer (given Norway, like Japan, only has a four-day work week), we do pale in comparison. If I were a foreigner, I would not want to come to the US as well to tell you the truth. I rather live in Germany or Norway, countries that rank higher than the US. In terms of colleges, insurance and the damages they do, yes the US is a shithole. An American who can admit that has more guts than a lot of people.

I learned how toxic facebook is several years back and it took me a lot of work just to get the facebook account cancelled. Also I signed up for youtube TV and due to high cost, told them early enough to cancel it. They billed my bank anyway. I called my bank who reversed it. Later I got notified by Youtube they had also reversed it. My bank reversed charges first. Chase is a good bank.

I know exactly what it means. It doesn't mean white discrimination, beatings nor silencing of those with conservative views, nor refusing to allow free speech on campus. It doesn't mean violent protests, burning nor otherwise destroying private property, nor blackballing those with differing opinions.
