The Kurds are Syrians, while Turkey is an invader. ..as is the US.

Are you saying that if someone destroys your house, they shouldn't pay for it? Strange reasoning there.

I'm sorry to hear that the butchers of Turkey are going to attack the Kurds once again. What did they ever do to you Turkey??? Well besides being a majority of your eastern population.

Here's an interesting opinion from Moon of Alabama:

There was a plausible rumor yesterday that Syria had offered to send its security forces to protect the Afrin area but that the Kurds rejected that. Now Russia and Syria think that the best way to prevent the announced U.S. protectorate of Kurdish held territory in the north-east, is to prove to the Kurds that the U.S. is unwilling to protect them and their brethren in Efrin from Turkish attacks.

The Kurds had quite good relations with the Russians and to some extend also with the Syrian government. They then changed sides to get U.S. protection with the intent of splitting up Syria and grabbing a big chunk for themselves. "Well, here is your payback. Now you will see what your new "allies" are willing to do for you."

I now expect a rather short fight, minor losses of territory to Erdogan's goons and a lot of bloody noses.

The Kurds want a chunk of Turkey, Iraq, and Syria for their homeland, their country. Do you really think the US should put its muscle behind that?

Are you hopefully being facetious? The Kurds and Turks have been fighting for decades in Turkey itself. Not just a bit of it either. Turkey has spent untold billions on engagements in its own country trying to silence the PKK. And failed. Enter in all this Syrian turmoil and Turkey is... Well I believe and I'll defer to our more historical folks but I bet Erdogan has fantasies of extending his map further south since in ah Ottoman times it was so.

So yep smart play Assad to play nice with the Kurds because it wasn' t long ago Mmm they voted for freedom and we the US shunned them pretty much. Like officially.

Very very slick Assad. I love it. Go Kurds

Because Russia is broke. Putin wanted Syria. Now he has it and its his mess to clean up - which he will never do of course. His only interest is that Assad stay in power.

    It is bullshit.

Kurds have a right to Self-Determination.

Turkey has no nuclear weapons and zero control of US nuclear weapons stored in Turkey. Even if the Turks mounted an armed assault, the nuclear weapons aren't active, and even if the might happen to be active, they're not coded.

    yes.
Supporting the only sane faction in the area, what a concept!
Moderate muslims who wants to join the west.
Why continue to support tyrents who hate the west and teach their community to perform terrorist attacks on the west, rather than the kurds?

Meanwhile Syrian government forces siezed the strategic point Abu-al-Duhur airfield. Hence the sufficient part of so-called Idlib zone now cut off and has become a new cauldron. Final cleansing of that cauldron is just a matter of time.

If the Kurds want a home land, (which they are entitled to of course), then they should stick to their own lands, which is in Turkey, Iran and Iraq. Instead, Washington with its geo political maneuvers wants them to grab the oil and gas rich areas of Syria from its Arab inhabitants. The way I see it, there are three reasons for this:

1- To cut a wedge between Shia Iran and Syria.
2- To acquire together with Kurdish Iraq, all the oil and gas wealth in the area.
3 - To gain access from Iraq to the Mediterranean.
4 - To keep Syria from recovering from Washington's destruction.

But Washington isn't the only one with designs on Syria, Ankara has as well. They too want the oil and gas rich areas, which they feel they are entitled to since it was part of their former empire.

Washington's actions have now given the Turkish killing machines the excuse to invade Syria, and with an Orwellian deception that mimics Washington's, Erdogan is calling the invasion: The Olive Branch.
