Tammy Duckworth Scorches Donald Trump As ‘Five-Deferment Draft Dodger’

This is the event that I point out where the Trumpocity dangles that Purple Heart and said the he always "wanted one of these". That is the event that I say Trump pissed on the Purple Heart. He showed no respect for the Purple Heart and all that Trumpndid was use it for political purposes. The guy who gave it to him had every right to give it to anyone he saw fit but Trump just could not show any respect fir the Purple Heart even though the Purple Heart is awarded to every one who is killed in combat due to enemy action so I feel that Ztrump pissed on the graves of all of my brithers whose names are on the Vietnam wall when he disrespected the Purple Heart.
I can never forgive the Trumpocity for that despicable act of pissing on the Purple Heart.

 

Sadly that is the attitude of the Trumpocity and even sicker that is the attitude of too many of his supporters.

I have already noted that technically the Trumpocity is not a drafty dodger any more that Clinton was. He is a drafty avoider. A drafty dodger has a technical definition and didging the draft was a felony as Inremember it.

 

People are not that naive to believe a person conducts their own physical for military enlistment.

IN FACT, bone spurs are a disqualifier even if corrected. If the military REALLY REALLY wants someone with such a history the military will have to doctor the person's medical history to get around the restriction. That happened for one of my children who enlisted, a super geek they wanted VERY badly. It delayed enlistment for 4 months until a different doctor was brought in and prepared an examination report that was inaccurate in a couple of decisive ways - one of which was bone spur correction surgery was left off the exam report, though had been revealed as lying in paperwork by someone wanting to enlist is not only very illegal - but can really bite a person in the ass such as ending service with a dishonorable discharge for lying. However, if it is the military "made a clerical error" or an exemption is formally granted the person is off the hook. It is faster to just have a military doctor leave it off the examination report.

Many people who try to enlist are devastated to learn they are rejected. For example, high school and college sports superstars are often rejected for injuries they had while playing, even if the person's own doctor says it is perfectly healed. The military has a very long list - different for each branch of service - that automatically disqualifies people, some of which may seem petty. The military is almost fanatical about ANYTHING have to do with ANY problems with feet, for obvious reasons. The military also is very strict on any condition having to do with knees for the same obvious reasons. UNLESS a person is a super geek brainiac or has some highly specialized education (such as doctor, lawyer, computer or electronics degree) they will NOT waive even seemingly petty restrictions.

One terrible reason lately is kids whose parents put them on ADD prescriptions as a child are now usually prevented from military service - something the kid had no control over and the parents were not aware of that consequence.

The "funny" one is the question of "have you ever used marijuana?" There are only TWO allowed answers: 1.) No, never and 2.) only tried it ONCE. They literally stress this to each potential enlistee now. The person is asked "how many times have you used marijuana exactly? LISTEN CAREFULLY TO MY QUESTION. Do NOT answer me UNLESS you can give an EXACT number of times. If you don't know how many times exactly, say you don't exactly know." A common answer then is "I don't know exactly." The person is then told - repeatedly - the ONLY allowed answer is "one time" and to "go sit over there and think about this before you answer. You will be rejected if the answer is more than once."

Of course, they all are there wanting to enlist, so ALL come back and say "just one time." LOL

The only claim of "draft dodger" against Trump could be for college deference, which was not draft dodging - but rather "avoidance" like you said. However, when that was eliminated he DID report for enlistment physical and was rejected for bone spurs.

He was in college so not eligible to be drafted until the deference was eliminated. He then DID report as required and was medically rejected. "Dodging" the draft, ie not reporting, was a felony.

Since we are being "technical," Bill Clinton was not a draft dodger. Rather, he went AWOL and was subject to military prosecution.

How strict the military and government pursued prosecutions changed across the history of the Vietnam war. At first they were extremely strict and would hunt men down for imprisonment. Near the end of the war no so much likely due to the rapidly growing list of draft dodgers and increasing legal challenges being raised.

What the history of Bill Clinton shows is that shouting "DRAFT DODGER!" has no political value, whether true or not.
