So what, did he volunteer? Trump would have had to volunteer to server and you guys are criticizing him. And opposing to war makes it OK to be a draft dodger? So cite me Trump's position on the war when he was 23 years old in 1969 with a link.

Yes let's hold all Presidents accountable to the same standards, don't you think?

Did Clinton or Obama ever put on the facade of being a brave macho military man?

    No?

Then Trump is a hypocrite, while Clinton and Obama are not.

Not much was fair about that war. Guys who grew up from infancy through high school living in old school buses on blocks, and there were quite a few of them, got drafted and guys who were brought up in two story homes with nice landscaping didn't. That was how Johnson said it had to be.

Agreed. If any president brags about being a brave macho military man, then hold their military service, or lack of it, up to scrutiny.

That's a consistency thing. You probably won't understand, not being a liberal.

Your whatboutism attempt to deflect fails. It's still a classical fallacy of false equivalency.

Schumer played the GOP right into the corner: they have to pass the Dreamer protections for them and their families, then have to face the right wing voters in the primaries.

    Well played, Schumer.

Well Obama when he declared his lines in the sands but of course he was a feckless leader.

Clinton did when he lied about Saddam having WMD's and launched a missile attack on him, an act of war. I mean claiming Saddam was a WMD threat WAS a lie wasn't it?

Read his announcement and tell me if we should have impeached him for launching an act of war based on a lie.

There is nothing unfair that Trump received college deferments as did MILLIONS or that he had a medical deferment as MILLIONS did through out the war, but the bottom line is he would have had to volunteer to serve he was not going to be drafted. Now if we are going to hold to Presidents that they must have not only gone when called for the draft but if not called them must have volunteer we're going to be cutting out a lot of possible candidates. There goes Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Sanders and more for the Democrats .

They were going to do that anyway. And Schumer will be giving a lot to get his DACA. They got nothing. The most he got was a longer term extension on the child health program. He overplayed and got burned. The Schumer Shutdown may be a turning point of trying to use government shutdowns as policy ploys.

Brilliant trump win. Brilliant. Who knew throwing grenades and hiding in the white house working at looking like he's working hard and creating all kinds of chaos is winning.

Victory because he got a 30 day continuation due to his government's majority in both houses unable to pass all kinds of necessary legislation.

I can guarantee they'll blame the democrats again in 30 days if they get jack squat done in the interim. How many CR's have their been since republicans took control of congress?

The standard was set with Clinton, the first President who was subject to service in Vietnam. So let's hold the rest to his standard don't you think?

    After they dissed him, wow.

What is sad is you attempting to defend that BS behavior and then to claim that this is how the majority of Americans want to see the POTUS act is a disgrace.

    Yea the racist ones.

If they are fake that pretty much speaks for itself.

    Yep the racist ones.

I wonder how many of them still believe that and you must the way you constantly try to defend him.

    Really, that's all you got.

    That's what it is.

I don't wonder anything, I know why the American people have lost so many positions.

The last President to serve? GW Bush.
Interesting considering during the Vietnam war 60,000 young men died for nothing and many of those deaths were drafted. Whereas today's military it is all volunteers and the Gulf war only killed 150 US soldiers and Afghanistan killed over 2000. Today's soldiers are at least fighting for a purpose. To make sure a 9-11 type attack doesn't happen again. IMO anyone that was able to avoid going to war in Vietnam made the right move. Even if Obama did the same thing I would approve. Vietnam was a stupid & pointless war.

My father was able to sidestep the draft cause he was going to college. Does that make him a draft dodger as well?

Lol...You know very little about the draft back then.
The local draft boards were set up so that they could offer preferential treatment to those that had connections or were better off while sending the poor and minorities to become canon fodder.
College deferments were part of this cozy little setup and everyone knew what a corrupt system it was.
So yeah, mr bone spur and mr college student were essentially dodging the draft and letting others do the heavy lifting.
It wasn't until the lottery came in that the playing field was levelled a bit, although those with connections could still bribe their way out of serving even if they got a low lottery number.

You don't understand what Schumer did so brilliantly. Now the GOP has less than three weeks to give him what he wants, which positions the mainstream GOP in conflict with its far right wing in the primaries.

How many deferments did your father have? So if you didn't agree with WWII or the Korean War you could have just said, "the hell with it I'm good" while everyone else had to go off to war, but in the next breath you want to tell me how patriotic you are and how much you love the military.
