You are smart to keep[ your money in the stock market. At least for the next 7 years. As to people with gay behavior....I don't need to know. They don't have to be defined by that but maybe they want it that way. They don't have to declare I have to license their relationship by the same term that is sanctioned between a man and a women. They don't need to use my public money to teach kids this is an alternative to the natural.
As to immigrants. Why are you opposed to use the term "illegal immigrants" as you know full well that is what I am talking about. Perhaps as a Wall Street person and a Social services teacher, you aren't familiar with Workman's Comp , liability requirements or even tax licensing or Contractor licencing. Those burdens can easily be upwards of 20%. Since the 1980's I have been in competition with those that have under bid me because if you are an American Citizen you will be heavily fined or lose licensing if you don't keep those up to date. Sure "illegals" pay some taxes. They use stolen SS numbers but they largely work under the table. A lot of their earned money goes back to Mexico or whereever so they get more bang for the buck.
I learned the masonry trade in the 70's. I worked on an all Mexican American crew for a long time. They were good guys and I learned a lot from them. They did not like "wetbacks" as they were referred to back them. I was switched to crews that were all white with a few blacks. I remember my mentors telling me learn the trade, learn it right and you'll never lack for fair paying work. That was true until the great influx of illegals in the eighties. It was then I became a Contractor. The GC I contracted with began listening to Rossetta Stone tapes. He told me that was the wave of the future. The illegals were coming and I saw the writing on the wall. I moved up in the mountains of Northern Arizona. Work was good for a while but there are so many illegals they come here as well. So try and understand my dilemna. It affects the majority of those of us in the trades. I signed an affidavit with the town of Payson that I would never hire an illegal. I stand by that. I have been a GC now for 30 years.

First of all, you keep talking about “gay behavior” and I keep asking how it’s different from mine and yours? They don’t want to be defined by that anymore than I want to be defined by heterosexuality. All I want is the same privileges we have and that is to commit to a marriage and get all the benefits that come with it and the intimacies I taught sex ed for 15 years in Brooklyn, And those kids were as homophobic as can be. What I told them basically is, “homosexuality is not bad, homosexuality is not good… It just is”. Nothing more! By the end of the year they were a lot more tolerant as a couple of kids said they had gay parents and little by little they realized that homophobia is more femiphobia...men are repulsed by men acting like a woman, but don’t have the same hang ups with gay women.
I am really not familiar enough with illegals taking these good jobs....

All I know is I have said that for years. The other day I said the stupidest thing to him. I said you’ve been retired for over 20 years and we still have the same amount of money in the stock market. Shouldn’t we have more? . Then he pointed out that for 20 years we have been living off the stock market very well and to have the same amount of money is a good thing. I really felt stupid.

I think people need religion Because it is too scary to actually think that when you die that is the end. I think religion is a lot of superstition. I keynote a lot and I always wear the same earrings. I believe they bring me good luck. If I was a believer I would thank God for a successful speech.

I do have a prejudice Renee and I and many more Americans unshamedly admit to it. That is.... anyone coming to our country, and the 1st thing they do is violate our law of entry, do not hold, as their intentions, to become good American Citizens. They are out for themselves and do not seek to obey our laws from that point on. Part of the proof being, they secure and often steal fake I.D. If that part is proven, I believe they should be deported immediately.
Another prejudice I hold is one for immigrants from all nations that earnestly desire to become Americans. They start by getting in a "long line" that is unjustly extended by those jumping our borders or jumping in front of the line. Those "hardworking people" you mention, should work hard to secure a stable life in their own country....but enablers are opening our borders to drag us down.

 

Renee, I have an honest question for you. If I was a believer in dirtnaps forever, I would see one of two choices I would make.....
#1 I would conform to the dictates of society. ( honestly, that I would find very boring).
#2 I would follow whatever desires I conceived at any given time. Who knows where that would lead, not even I. The ancients summed it up with the words...."Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die!" That to me would be living life to the fullest, courageous and daring without accoutability to anyone!

Yes you are right you are prejudiced. You don’t see people that come to this country and work their asses off hoping for their children to have better lives as good people. You see them as horrible people.

I get a workshop not that long ago with high school kids on prejudice. One girl said that she doesn’t admit she comes from Mexico because people think Mexicans are bad people. Another girl said the same thing about being Muslim. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see a parallel between Nazi Germany scapegoating Jews in the United States scapegoating immigrants and Muslims. It really scares me but luckily You are in the minority. Almost 85% of the country believes the dream should stay here
