Is blowing up the debt going to cost Trump support from true conservatives?

To be honest, I don't see your plan being in any way politically feasible until after "unsustainable national debt" forces the issue.

Divert the budgets of programs and agencies into vested individual accounts that can be used to meet the critical needs of American workers.

Conservatives rarely actuallty care about the debt. They tend to support high spending when it comes to things they support....business subsidies, military, tax cuts etc........and only care about what they see as "liberal" spending. Their "spending cuts" usually amount to barely 10% of the deficit, but when they get it done they pat theirselves on the back and call the budget balanced, even as the country sinks deeper into debt.

How many of our politicians have the tenacity to actually do it?

That is not the American way

I think they meaning the reptilian swamp creatures in government will resist change but not to the extent of using violence

Or at least I hope so

Nothing sensible is politically feasable these days

Most of the voting public wants its cake and someone else to pay for it

    I suppose practically none

But sooner or later this house of cards will collaspe anyway and everything the public os avoiding will happen anyway

    But much more painfully

Its better to manage it ourselves than have it imposed on us

I don't care about the numbers. I care about having a smaller, less corrupt, less expensive government.

Eliminating deficits is as easy as pie. All that is required is getting around politics.

You can guarantee they'll be pointing the finger at those that have a little more than the rest. They will be the scape goats

We are not happy with the ballooning budget and deficit. About all the other thing you threw on the pile, I don't know.
Ryan and McConnell are as much if not more to blame than Trump. Democrats love it; Schumer can't wipe the grin off his face.

This is one of the very few things I almost agree with Trump on because he's one of the only pols I've ever heard who at least hinted that he had a glimmer of understanding that the National Debt is NOT like a mortgage on your house or even an IOU to Sam Giancana. It's not, in fact. even a debt at all, and there are good arguments makeable that a high National Debt is a sign of Economic HEALTH rather than a portent of approaching doom

And as to the OP, no, of course not. Trump's base wouldn't care if Trump decided to spend the entire Social Security Fund on prostitutes and cocaine to supply a giant party for himself and the Republican Congress; just so long as all the drafted Hispanic hookers and Muslim dancing girls were deported right after. Modern conservatism is based on racism, ethnicism and, above all, hate, and as long as the hated ones are being properly bashed nothing else is important. It's sort of like the Trumpistas have adopted a perversion of the old Republican slogan and now believe that "The business of America is bigotry and xenophobia. "

So, if you are not happy about the deficit, did you support the tax cuts? You can't have your cake and eat it too.

At least you are honest about your dissatisfaction with the deficit and GOP politicians. All other conservative posters sort of dream about this non-existing politician who will balance the budget -- and then they voted for and defend Trump with all they have, knowing fully that he is adding 10% to the deficit, in good economic times, btw. I don't know how they can justify this mental disconnect to themselves.

My prediction: They have emotionally jumped full force onto the Trump train, so it is really hard for them to admit that Trump is not the savior they thought he would be.

Using tax to correct for negative externalities is a pretty common practice. For instance you could implement a tax on carbon mixed in with a rebate so people are no worse off financially and it disincentivises behaviour that adds to climate change, unless you don't care about doing anything about a classic tragedy of the commons problem. The US could also do with ending the billions of fossil fuel subsidies it provides as well.

Just as a quick aside for clarification: the government does not subsidize fossil fuel companies by anything near "billions". The tens of millions they do subsidize are either tax breaks given to all industries or limited to small drilling companies.

I am mostly happy with the tax cut because it is most likely going to increase revenues rather than decrease revenues as the static analysis says.
I am very happy with Trump but with some reservations. I am not a Trump pom-pom guy. I think this budget is horrendous. I think his infrastructure plan is once again an expensive boondoggle like they all have been since Eisenhower's interstate highway program. His plan will be right up there with Obama's stimulus package. His talk of family leave is disastrous. Other than that he has been a superb president, the hateful grousing of the Hillary drones and the never Trumpers not withstanding.

This country has not seen for over 100 years the hate, bigotry, and racism expressed by the progressive left Democrats.
But keep up the meme. It's at least somewhat entertaining.

Actually the fossil fuel companies are doing the government a huge favor by collecting revenue for it.

Seeing that the USA has road and bridge infrastructure worse than some shithole countries, the fossil fuel companies should keep collecting that revenue.
